'American Idol' top 10 pick the next judge; Harry Connick Jr. leads
If the top 10 contestants on this year's "American Idol" had anything to do with it, Harry Connick Jr. would be the man to take Simon Cowell's place next season.Or three of the top 10, anyway. Parade magazine asked the 10 stars of the current "Idol" tour for their opinions on who should replace Simon, and Connick -- the mentor for the top five during Frank Sinatra week -- got the most votes. "Most" in this case, however, means three: Michael Lynche, Katie Stevens and Aaron Kelly say Connick would be the best choice.
The other most-talked-about possible replacement, Bret Michaels, won the endorsement of two finalists -- Casey James, who performed with Michaels on the season finale, and Crystal Bowersox. She also wonders, though, if "maybe they could bring Paula [Abdul] back."
The other choices were, let's say, a little more outside the box. Lee DeWyze thinks Arnold Schwarzenegger would be "funny" (and he will, after all, be in need of a job next year), Siobhan Magnus wants Paul Reubens (aka Pee-Wee Herman) "because I love him" and Didi Benami thinks Adam Lambert would be great because he's been through the process and "he's really honest."
OK, maybe that last one isn't so out there. Andrew Garcia's pick of Paris Hilton, though? Forget about it.

OMG!! Arnold would be hilarious, especially if he goes all terminator on the contestents!! LOL. Pee-Wee would be fun too!! Bret and Harry Jr are the more obvious since everyone talks about them but I rather have Paula back with Randy and Kara and go back to the 3 judges format. I like Ellen but she doesn't add anything. I rather have Simon than Kara tho!
I think Siobhan was being humorous when she suggested Pee-Wee, knowing he doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell.
Pity Siobhan was off the week before Harry Connick arrived. HCJ has done a lot with working with young women like Siobhan and giving good career advice. A future gig of Siobhan doing vocals with Connick's Band is not a bad thing to contemplate. Mangus is steeped in Gershwin and Jazz, has a voice that goes with it.
I only see him as a suitable celebrity replacement for Cowell. Otherwise, they are best off casting a very good, charismatic Unknown.
I like Bret, but he is too nice, has only sketchy knowledge of the music biz outside his niche, and is a serial reality show afficionado. He doesn't get Idol, he'll be begging to be a judge on DWTS or be selected a Top Chef contestant, or show up in Real Housewives of New Jersey or as a judge on Fashion Runaway.
They should get Dave Grohl.
Harry 'Poop-Pants- Connick Jr could never replace 'The Great Simon'! Judging from Connick jr's own appearance and behavior on The Ellen Degeneres Show, he should check himself into Silver Hill Hospital and not check himself out after only one day like his good ol' DA. Anyway, if they are reduced to having Harry, please don't have him sing 'Pants On the Ground', that is unless they started to 'air' the show for laughs. Remember, he is 'America's Mephitic Music Man'!
well the idols choices are interesting-We all at home thought Connick would be a great replacement for Simon- He would give the show some class and musicianship-maybe bret micheals but actually I just dont like him personnally-And paula should return and get rid of (wonder-dog)-Kara and
the Gay girl--If all else fails add Howard stern
My husband & I think Gene Simmons of the group KISS would be the perfect replacement for Simon Cowell on American Idol.
