'American Idol': Jennifer Lopez signed, Steven Tyler in the works

Sources on the production side of "American Idol" are now telling Zap2it that Jennifer Lopez is signed, sealed and delivered for the Season 10 judges' table, while Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is still in negotiations. This means an announcement could still happen Monday (Aug. 2) at FOX's Summer Press Tour executive panel, depending on how things go this weekend.
While Tyler remains the producers first choice for the new male judge, if a deal cannot be reached sources say that last season's wildly popular "Idol" mentor Harry Connick Jr. will be signed instead.
Earlier Friday (July 30) evening sources close to "Idol" were saying that no deals were signed, the judges' panel was not set and that there would not be announcement on Monday. The official FOX line is still "no comment."
The speculative judges' panel has been the top "Idol" story since news broke that Ellen DeGeneres was leaving the show, in addition to Simon Cowell departing back in May to focus on the U.S. version of "The X Factor." There are rumors that Kara DioGuardi is out as well and that only Randy Jackson will return to judge again.

Yes! Get rid of Randy. What useful thing has he said since season 3? Nothing. A complete waste on the panel. Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler AND Harry Connick Jr would be a great panel of judges. A truly new twist on the old (and boring) Idol. (Oh and bring back Paula too, for laughs.)
Kara stole my happy and deserves to be fired. Sign me up if they plan to tar and feather her,too.
What! Harry Connick Jr is still a possibility if Steven Tyler doesn't sign!!! What are they doing going to Tyler first? Sign Harry quickly before he gets away. He should be first on the list. Great musical talent, quick witted, immensely popular as a mentor. What are they thinking by even considering Steven Tyler first????

This show minus most of the original judges MAY become a hit (and one would be genuinely surprised)- it may not (not surprisingly).
Honestly? Without Simon - it should've been renamed "Star Search".
Pesonally - I'd pulled the plug on it the moment they decided to feature 4 judges. Looking back, that was their "Yoko Ono" moment.

Dump Randy too. All he says anymore is "Dawg, I don't know dude," "That was just a'ight for me," " This is what this competition is all about." There's never any constructive criticism which is probably why this last season was the worst. The contestants never knew what they needed to improve on. I like Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Harry Connick Jr as the new judging panel. That would be great.
