'American Idol': Judge search heats up with talk of Isaak, Connick
Auditions for season 10 of "American Idol" are well underway, but there's still a vacant seat at the judge's table. And FOX seems no closer to finding a replacement for Simon Cowell.
Well, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that a handful of would-be judges are on the top of FOX's list -- and, be still our hearts, Bret Michaels isn't one of them. Sources reveal that he's no longer being considered.
But who is? "Wicked Games" singer Chris Isaak reportedly met with producers twice now about possibly coming on board, and beloved "Idol" guest Harry Connick Jr. -- who tops season 9 contestants' list of most suitable Simon replacements -- is also still a contender.
THR says FOX insists a decision won't come for the foreseeable future, but entertainment chairman Peter Rice plans on having the new judge join the panel by the last round of road auditions in early September. Zap2it has reached out to FOX for official comment. We'll keep you posted.

Bret Michaels was on The View last week and said he WAS replacing Simon.
It sounded like a done deal.
Here's the thing: Harry Connick Jr. is really creepy; Chris Isaak is not. If Isaak is on it, I'll watch it. If it's Connick, forget it.
Oh, wait...I forgot about Ellen. Okay, I won't watch it in either case.

Please....not Harry Conneck Jr!!!! How would he know talent?? I just wasn't impressed with his week on IDOL whatsoever.
WHY NOT ASK lead singer, Anthony Kiedis, from Red Hot Chili Peppers?? He'd probably be GREAT!

Todd Rundgren? Brian Eno? Bob Ezrin? will.i.am? Ryan Tedder?
I wasn't impressed with Harry Jr. the first time round, couldn't imagine him replacing Simon. Bret Michaels NOT considered...WHAT??? I've lost so much faith and interest in this show following this past season's fiasco, and what does Ellen know about musical talent...she's a great comedian and talk show host, but a AI judge...NOT!!!!
I would definitely watch it if Chris Isaak gets the job - he is cute, witty, and knows music. Any of the others mentioned, no thanks.
Chris Isaak? Seriously? Lame. I'm not impressed with any of the choices that have been named. But of all of them, I like Harry Connick Jr the most. He's really funny and seems to know what he's talking about. But he's just not on the level of Simon Cowell and that's what the show will need to succeed. Chris Isaak hasn't been relevant in years. What a stupid choice.
What is wrong with people??? Bret Michaels is the best choice..the other two--well the ratings will go down, down. They better make sure the right choice is made. I like watching America Idol with Simon and Ellen is okay..I like America Got Talent with the new Judge "Howie" he is great and the ratings has gone up.
I don't watch American Idol but if either Harry Connick Jr. or Chris Isaak become judges I may have to start. Hopefully the producers will choose someone I'm indifferent to and I can waste my tv time on shows that are more enjoyable to me.
