Tony Awards: Rue McClanahan's name misspelled in memorial montage
We don't think the 2010 Tony Awards snubbed any stars during their In Memoriam montage -- but Rue McClanahan, one of the most well-known stars in the montage, had her name spelled wrong. Oops. The montage had her name in all caps as "RUE MCLANAHAN." Sorry, Tony Awards. There's an extra "c" in there. McClanahan never got a Tony nomination for her Broadway work but she did win a Best Actress Obie for her off-Broadway work in "Who's Happy Now" in 1969.
We wonder if they'll fix the misspelling for the West Coast broadcast...
Other notable stars shown in the montage were siblings Lynn and Corin Redgrave, who died within weeks of each other in April and May of 2010. Lynn was a three-time Tony nominee (for "Mrs. Warren's Profession," "Shakespeare for My Father" and "The Constant Wife.") though she never won. Corin had one Tony nomination to his name (for "Not About Nightingales").
Finally, "Designing Women" star Dixie Carter was also included but the Tony nomination was always elusive for her in her time on the Great White Way.

That is really tacky that they misspelled her name!
I thought Frances Reid and Helen Wagner would be on this memorial montage. Both of them had been in theater long before the Tonys were created, and I'm a little surprised they were not mentioned. At least Reid and Wagner will be in the Daytime Emmys memorial montage on June 27.
Don't bank on it, Andrew. As we've seen recently, these awards shows will snub ANYONE and EVERYONE for the sake of length. Oversights are more common than not, and it's unforgiveable.
Why can't I find--either in text or video--the In Memoriam 2010 Tonys? I watched last night and it goes so quickly I wanted to Google someone and can't remember now who it was? Can someone help? Found 2009's but no 2010.
After doing some research, the theater backgrounds of Frances Reid and Helen Wagner were not Broadway related, and they were never nominated for Tonys. So that's why they're not in the Tonys memorial montage.
Oops! I misinformed myself. Frances Reid did have Broadway experience. My bad!
