'So You Think You Can Dance' Top 11: Nigel Lythgoe, you tricked Billy Bell too!
It was less than two weeks ago that "So You Think You Can Dance" judge Nigel Lythgoe looked me straight in the eye and told me that, between dance favorites Billy Bell and Alex Wong, only one would make this year's Top 10... which was clearly misleading since both boys are Season 7 finalists, as the show decided to do a Top 11 instead.

And, listen, I wasn't the only one who was tricked.
Last week, I met up with the aforementioned Top 11 the day after they flew into L.A. and got some one-on-one time with Billy, who said that someone posted my interview with Mr. Lythgoe on his facebook page and he freaked out, thinking that Alex had been cut.
He immediately called Alex up to ask if he'd made the show and, upon hearing that he did, they were both just confused.
Take a look as Billy tells the story himself and talks about his health -- which of course forced him to withdraw from the competition last season -- as well as what he's looking forward to this time around...

Oh thank god!! Now I don't have to boycott the show! It was going to be a long, sad summer.
is anyone else completely annoyed by this korbi's voice - STOP WHINING when you speak every damn word - it's completely annoying
Am I the only one who thought the in-person yes/no you're on the show thing was over played? I would have rather seen more solo performances, group dancing, judge deliberations, etc. I thought the whole will they/won't they thing was a waste of time. It was corny. I feel like all the auditions and Vegas week stuff was rushed this season.
Nigel did tell the truth since Billy Bell was never in the top 10. When he was added he became part of the top 11(and therefore was technically never part of the top 10).
I was just so annoyed by the ridiculous side plot of Nigel getting lost in the farm fields of Ohio! This was just such a blatant example of "coastism" that FOX has; any part of the country that is not New York or California must be Rube-land! As a native Ohioan, I am insulted!
damn - i just watched the whole video - does this show not cast masculine men anymore? are there no masculine male dancers, really? there must be one somewhere, but obviously not on SYTYCD
What a stupid comment about not casting masculine men. SO YOU THINK casts the BEST possible dancers for the show regardless of their sexual orientation. What talent do you have that you have any right to judge who and who shouldn't oh whatever i'm not wasting breath on you. And Korbi you are awesome, been following you since E! and I love what a fan you are and how you watch all my favorite shows and you always ask the right questions.
Hated personal yes/no segments, tho the tap dancer teacher in NY was terrific. So glad I DVR'd SYTYCD & didn't waste the entire last hour. The rest was great & 11 (as in an understudy just in case 11?) was a huge relief.
@kk - "stupid" is a childish word that shows your age mentality - i am allowed to have my opinion - and these "guys" are beyond feminine - and i'm supposed to buy them dancing with girls - right - and regardless of whether korbi asks the right questions or not, that is not what i was saying - she has a poor speaking voice for interviewing - and the photo spread of her on the top of all of her stories is self-gratifying - she must want to be an actress - whatevs
Yes I'm sure Korbi creates her own photo spreads. Art direction is of course the job of all columnists. Stupid is a word created for people like you: Otherwise known as HOMOPHOBES.
