'Modern Family,' 'Glee,' 'Breaking Bad' lead TV critics' nominees

tca-nominees-2010.jpg"Modern Family" and "Glee" will be duking it out at another awards show later this summer.

The two first-year shows are among the leading nominees for the 2010 Television Critics Association Awards, which were announced Thursday (June 3). They'll also be competing head-to-head in every category in which they're nominated: Program of the year, outstanding comedy series, outstanding new series and the individual comedy award. (See how the actual nominees compare to Zap2it staff editor Rick Porter's picks.)

"Modern Family" has five nominations total, while "Glee" has four; "Family's" Ty Burrell and Eric Stonestreet were both nominated for individual achievement in comedy, while Jane Lynch is the sole "Glee" representative in the category.

AMC's "Breaking Bad" also has four nominations, for program of the year, best drama and two individual drama nominations for Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.  "The Good Wife," "Lost," "The Big Bang Theory," "Sons of Anarchy" and "Parks and Recreation" also all have multiple nominations.

Not on the nominations list much are recent awards titans "Mad Men" and "30 Rock." The AMC series has a single nomination for best drama, while "30 Rock," which most critics believe had a down season in a year where comedy in general was strong, was shut out.

It's time for Lost to get some love.

"The Daily Show" for Outstanding Achievement in News and Information? I think that even John Stewart would question the show being put in that category.

Great to see Twin Peaks get a heritage nomination! Hopefully it wins!

How can anyone justify Glenn Beck not being nominated for the news & info category? What a joke.

How does FNL warrant a nomination for program of the year and not outstanding drama series? Makes total sense to me.

"Parks and Recreation" gets a nod but not "Community"?
"Community"'s a much more creative show. I love Amy Poehler, but her show often feels like a spinoff of "The Office".

Only one nomination for Friday Night Lights??!?

What no Chuck.......................

Eh, no, Bill, Glenn Beck not being nominated for News & Information isn't a joke.

Glenn Beck IS a joke.

Big difference.

Breaking Bad. AWESOME. Glad to see it getting some recognition.
