'Gossip Girl': Katie Cassidy gets multi-episode guest spot

The best part of the "Melrose Place" reboot is coming back to your TV screens, CW watchers! Katie Cassidy is guest-starring on "Gossip Girl" in the fall, the CW confirms to Zap2it.Cassidy will appear in a multi-episode arc as a Columbia student who is a love interest for Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) -- and like a lot of the "GG" Upper East Siders, she will not be exactly what she seems. Cassidy's guest-starring turn starts with the "Gossip Girl" Season 4 premiere in September.
Cassidy is currently filming "Monte Carlo" with "Gossip Girl" star Leighton Meester -- we can't wait for a Cassidy-Meester showdown on "Gossip Girl." There's no way they could waste that Ella Simms attitude, right?!

Not enthused. Katie was amazing on both Supernatural and Melrose Place, but her talented will be nonetheless wasted on Gossip Girl. That show has gone down the tubes fast, and Katie can't help it. No one can.
Have to agree. I LOOOVE Katie, but she's just going to be wasted on GG to prop whatever else they're planning this season with Nate.
GG is a sinking ship anyway.

This is the best news I've heard all week. Ella Simms was the best part of Melrose Place (and this is coming from someone who loved the original Melrose and tried so very hard to like the new one), so should be perfect here. I'd rather she appear on a show that hasn't been floundering in quality, but it's still the most popular show on the CW, so I'm happy.
Loved her in Supernatural, loved her on Melrose Place, and loved her in Nightmare on Elm Street. Can't wait for the Blair/[Unnamed Character] Showdown.
