'Glee': Shelby adopts Quinn's baby but doesn't want to be in Rachel's life?

lea-michele-idina-menzel-320.jpgI'm confused.

Was the adoption of Quinn's baby by Shelby Corcoran -- also known as Rachel's biological mom -- supposed to be a touching moment on Tuesday's (June 8) season finale of "Glee"?

Because I'm kind of annoyed with her.

I mean, it's definitely cool that she decided to give the little infant a loving home, but I'd feel a lot more confident in her ability to actually love had she not blown off her very own biological daughter just a few scenes before that.

So Rachel isn't fresh-out-of-the-oven. So what?!

She's your kid. She's begging you to be a part of her life and you're like, ehh, I need a brand new model??

Why can't you have both girls in your world?

What is your problem?

Do you not see that, at 16, Rachel still needs you?

To be able to ignore that just makes Shelby Corcoran seem very cold and undeserving of another child.

Agreed? Or no?

I couldn't agree with you more! Well said. I suppose they are setting up for a heartwarming scene next season.

1000% agree. It wasn't right. Shelby just needs to never come back now. What she did to Rachel is just unforgivable.

She was never her mother. She simply was a donor that supplied the egg and womb for another couple to have a child.
Plus once she realized that she would have liked to be a mom (not just a donor)it was too late to do anything with Rachel. Rachel isn't hers and she knows it. Adopting Quinn's baby allows her to actually raise a child, which is what she actually wants.

no, it was horrible writing on the writers part---they didn't mean for Shelby to come across as a psycopath, but they did.

I would have liked to see Shelby at least try to be Rachel's mom, failed, sadly bid goodbye and then go adopt Quinn's baby. The one complaint I have about Glee is that everything's so sudden and nothing's ever gradual

agreed. i thought she was going to talk about how she regrets not being involved with rachel and quinn would keep her move back w/ mom, etc.

best moment though was when quinn asked puck if he ever loved her and he says yes especially now...

Absolutely agreed! I was thinking the same thing. Yes, she missed out on Rachael's childhood but they would still have decades to get to know each other. That whole thing just struck me as so strange and sad.

It's what they set up in "Theatricality" all along. Shelby couldn't have kids, and while she wanted one, she realized she was too late with Rachel -- according to her, Rachel had already grown up (and grown up well), so what would she need Shelby for? That's what she told Will, at least.

It's awful that it's basically another example of someone not wanting Rachel/wanting Quinn over Rachel, but it's not out of leftfield. It's just 'Glee' logic (which isn't really the best kind of logic...).

I thought the adoption thing was the ONLY down note in a great show! and it happened so fast! I didnt see Quinn discuss this w/the babydaddy, or her mom, or anyone????wth? nope, did not like it.coming right on the heels of her brutal shutdown of Rachel....no way, no good@!
