'Glee' novel a prequel to the show

glee-novel-.jpgDo you love "Glee" enough to follow the characters even if you can't hear them sing?

Little, Brown Books is counting on it. They've brokered a deal with FOX to publish official "Glee"-related books, beginning with a novel to be released in August, reports Shelf Life.

The young adult novel will feature your favorites from the show such as Mr. Schuester, Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson before the events of what we've seen on FOX. So far, there's no word if there will be a musical element to the novel or not.

"Glee: The Beginning" by Sophia Lowell will also include a bit of ephemera, a double-sided poster.

Multiple other "Glee" book projects are also in the works

Too much merchandise too soon...don't wear out Glee before it comes back for season 2.

Desperate to cash in I see.

They will burn Glee to the ground by mid S2 if they keep this up.

I enjoy Glee and will buy it on blu-ray and I download almost every song but for this novel I gotta say no-thanks.
I would much rather see this in the form of a flashback episode.

Seriously? Who thinks that this is a good idea?
I watch every episode, and own every cd... but, this is too far. It turns the show into a Disney-like show with this kind of merchandising. This isn't a little-kids so, we don't need sparkling book covers and coloring books.

Well, here's a quick way to burn GLEE into the ground - overmerchandise!!! Can't wait for the GLEE mugs, pen & pencil sets and a watch with Sue Sylvester doing jumping jacks...If it'll put a penny in Ryan Murphy's pocket, he's on board.
