'Glee' introducing Christian character for Season 2

dianna-agron-glee-320.jpgIn his open letter calling for the boycott of "Newsweek" after a seemingly homophobic article was published, "Glee" executive producer Ryan Murphy writes that the "Glee" writers "take care to do a show about inclusiveness."

Murphy is keeping his word and Zap2it confirms that he plans to introduce another Christian character to the show next season.

"Glee" certainly hasn't pulled any punches when it comes to conservatives. Quinn's Christian parents throw her out after Finn announces that she's pregnant and the school's Celibacy Club is full of hypocrites.

While "Glee's" agenda has certainly leaned toward the liberal side up to this point, the new character - who will be a female student - isn't expected to be a punching bag. She'll be strictly devoted, and we're interested to find out whether she'll be respected or ridiculed for her religious leanings. She has yet to be cast.

Great. Just what we didn't need on Glee.

As a Christian, this makes me a little nervous, because network TV so rarely gets Christian characters right or realistically.

Yeah, Barbara is right. Christians aren't usually portrayed as the self-righteous villains they are. Hopefully that changes.

As a Christian Gay, I also am curious how they will be shown - Of course Christians only want this character shown in a good light, but we Christians don't always act very Christ-like at times, so it should be interesting.

I'm a little shocked by this. A real Christian character? Does this mean she will be protesting at abortion clinics with dead baby posters? Or maybe anti-gay rally?

I am a Christian, but, as most Christians in this country are devoted to exclusivity and hatred against those who are different, it'll be interesting to see how GLEE incorporates a "Christian" character in the spirit of "inclusiveness."

TV usually does a great job of showing the hypocrisy of the typical American Christian. They go around spouting their "family values," while supporting bigotry and discrimination against those who don't believe the same things.

Live with it, Barbara and others. My church says gay marriage is OK, so you're infringing on MY religious rights by trying to discriminate.

I'm sure "Newsweek" will have something to say about this.....before they go out of buisness.

Chil, **** mix. You sound like the one with the hatred. Very accusatory. Arent's Christians aloud to believe the bible?

I agree that some of the christians in this world are extremely hypocritical, but being one, I see no need to go accuse and insult others about something that a tv show is doing. You guys all need to grow up and remember what being a christian is all about.

for the Christian bashers, whatever you do don't read this link, it might rob you of the comfort of your prejudices :
