'Glee' cheat sheet, season finale edition: Freddie Mercury and racist cartoons

rachel-finn-glee-finale.jpgWe know, we're missing "Glee" already, too. The Season 1 finale aired Tuesday (June 8) night, and what a finale it was.

Spoiler alert: Rachel and Finn got back together -- he even dropped the L-word -- and Quinn had her baby, who was adopted by Shelby, Rachel's sort-of-mom, who had just won Regionals with Vocal Adrenaline, even though Sue voted for New Directions... phew.

Having trouble keeping up? We understand. With everything that happened tonight, you may have missed a zinger or two, but Zap2it has you covered.

"Your hair looks like a briar patch. I keep expecting racist animated Disney characters to pop up and start singing songs about living on the bayou."

It wouldn't be "Glee" without a Matthew Morrison hair joke! This time, Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) is referring to the 1946 film "Song of the South." This probably wouldn't fly 50 years later.

"I'm seeing someone. His name's Carl. He's my dentist. He's been very impressed with my oral hygiene."

Spoiler alert (again): Emma's dentist will show up in Season 2... and he'll look an awful lot like Uncle Jesse. Yes, John Stamos has joined "Glee" as the dapper - and apparently, very sanitary - Dr. Carl.

"I left your father. He was having an affair with some tattooed freak."

Hmm. Is it possible that this could be a not-so-thinly veiled reference to Michelle "Bombshell" McGee? Looks like "Glee" followed Sandra Bullock's MTV Movie Awards advice -- maybe it is time to start making light of the drama surrounding Jesse James' alleged affair. The late-night talk show hosts have been doing it all along, after all.

"I partied with Freddie Mercury and I partied hard if you know what I mean. Back then people weren't so obsessed with labels."

The WOHN news anchor judge, Rod Remington, must have had a wild ride in the '70s and '80s. Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen, led a very fast life and was known to visit bathhouses and clubs and experiment with drugs and sex before his 1991 death from pneumonia complicated by AIDS.

LOVED Sue Sylvester's quote.

SONG OF THE SOUTH is indeed a bit on the racist side, but it's not bad at all -- there aren't any lynchings or KKK activity or anything like that. It's just full of somewhat-negative stereotypes.

That said, there are some wonderful songs in the movie and some terrific animation, plus the stories are excellent, so it's a shame to see it swept under the rug the way it has been.

I never thought I would agree in anyway with **** but I dont see how Zipitty do da from Snnow White is considered racist in any way. If you are referring to the person who is singing the song and the way he is speaking well back in the time this was made that was the movie stereotype.

Also remember this is not the only Briar rabbit mention in the world there is also a famous childrens story about Peter Rabbit and the Briar patch. Maybe the comment Sue made came from there.

Why do people automaticaly jump to the racist card.

Finale was uneven - the voting scene was absolutely ridiculous and REALLY we're supposed to believe that Quinn and Puck just give their daughter to this self-absorbed skank who couldn't even handle talking to her OWN teenage daughter? Seriously that was THE most ludicrous scene in the entire season.
