'Game of Thrones' teaser: 'Winter is coming' to HBO
Behold the first taste of HBO's heavily anticipated fantasy series "Game of Thrones."
There isn't a whole heck of a lot to grab onto in the 20 seconds or so of video, save for a stark, wintry look to the production design and a couple of quick-cut shots of the strife we're sure to see over the course of the show -- as first hinted in the one image from the show HBO has released so far.
It also gives us the tagline for the show: "Winter is coming," which doubles as a reminder of when "Game of Thrones" will premiere: It's scheduled to debut in early 2011.
"Game of Thrones" is based on George R.R. Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" novels; the cast includes Sean Bean, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Mark Addy, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Michelle Fairley. Martin is also a co-executive producer of the series; David Benioff ("Troy," "25th Hour") and D.B. Weiss wrote the pilot script and are executive producing.
What do you think of the teaser? Like what you see?

For the record: An earlier version of this post listed Jennifer Ehle as part of the "Game of Thrones" cast. She was in the original pilot but was replaced by Michelle Fairley.

Best book series ever. Now, if Martin would stop delaying and finish it after all these years.
Just a heads up, Jennifer Ehle left the project following the filming of the pilot and was replaced with Michelle Fairley.
Awesome just begins to describe how good this series could be.
Thanks, Winter. I had forgotten that. Post will be corrected.
