'Drop Dead Diva': Is Jane better off alone for now?

drop-dead-diva-margaret-cho-brook-elliot.jpgIn this week's episode of "Drop Dead Diva," the theme seemed to be all about second chances.

Jane (Brooke Elliott) represented a man (Chad Lowe!) who had suffered from amnesia for nine years and wanted a shot at shared custody for his son. A female writer (Ricki Lake - lookin' good, right?) came clean on her male pseudonym, but in the end her popularity with the readers won out over her deception of them. Gotta love them loyal readers! Wink.

drop-dead-diva-david-denman-brook-elliot.jpgJane, on the other hand, didn't get a second chance with Tony (David Denman). After several unreturned calls, Teri (Margaret Cho) worked her network of assistants to find out where he was having lunch. Jane and Stacy (April Bowlby) dropped in to find him beaming across the table from some hot chick and let's just say Jane lost her cool. We found out later that he was on a job interview and he wasn't happy about the scene Jane made.

So, what does he do? Break up with her! Um, wasn't he the one who wasn't returning Jane's calls? How was she supposed to know he was interviewing for a job?

On the other hand, maybe the unreturned phone calls and the hasty dumping means he's just not that into her and she should just move on? What's your take?

They are my favorite part of the show and the reason I am reading this blog and responding to it. She and Tony are wonderful together and after all the icky cheating scandals, we as a society need to have healthy loving relationships to watch instead of the Jerry Springer versions. We've lost relationship optimism or even realism and we need that back. I think they could become one of TV's greatest couples if the show's writers are talented enough to make it happen.

Oops! I didn't read the last couple of paragraphs. Okay, I was living in the past and was still in love w/ the Tony who liked Jane unconditionally and was emotionally available. Now that you put his behavior into perspective - him not calling her back, then being upset at her for a misunderstanding that could have been prevented if he had simply communicated w/ her, then breaking up with her unequivically without discussion - that does not bode well for who he is. Why can't there be characters who are consitstent and heroic like in the olden days?

Relationship "realism"?

Tony and Jane have ZERO chemistry. I'm not sad to see him go. I'd like to see J and G give it a try eventually, but I think that she does need to be on her own. She's still figuring out who she is, so any relationship she might pursue now will surely fail in the end.

Jane is better off alone now to find out who she is. I know that is traumatic going from being beautiful to having another person's body and face. I am a real life drop dead diva. I was very beautiful until I was hit head-on by a drunk driver. The steering wheel hit my face breaking all of my facial bones and I never looked the same. I had to learn to accept my new face. I understand more than anyone what Jane is going through.

Jane and Tony are the main reason I watch. I think they are great together. As for him not calling her back...I think it is realistic. You have an analytical man trying to process everything (disbarment, marriage, insurance fraud) that had happened in a short period of time with someone he is unsure is really into him. Like this coupling - Lifetime PLEASE DON'T RUIN IT!!!!

I still think there is a big chance Fred is going to be the one for her in the end. :| I am not so sad to see Tony go though he is a likable character; I mean, after all, Jane never seemed that terribly into him until the last 2ish episodes. I was kinda mad when she cried over it! Haha.

Tony and Jane are perfect together! I mean, Grayson is nice and all, but he's just an ex-boyfriend Jane (or rather, Deb) never got over with. Deb died, so it's a start of a new beginning when she returned as Jane! But I agree with SkyRAR. Fred MIGHT be the one with Jane in the end D: Even though I'm rooting for a Tony-Jane pairing, it doesn't seem as possible as it was, cause I read online that Tony only has 7 episodes altogether in the whole of season 1 and 2. Or did I read wrong on the web? :/ Really hope so.

I have just washed all season 1 and 2 and I would like TONY and JANE back together!!!!! Please bring him back!
