'Criminal Minds' cuts cast, 'Undercovers' recasts
"Criminal Minds" will become more of a boys' club next season. The CBS show is shedding one cast member and possibly reducing the role of another. Both of them happen to be women. A.J. Cook is being let go, and Paget Brewster may not appear in every episode next season, although she'll still be a cast regular.
The moves are intended to "refresh a veteran drama series," a source close to the show tells Deadline.com. "Criminal Minds" may add a new female character later on next season to fill Cook's shoes.
- While "Criminal Minds" is reshuffling its cast, NBC's new series "Undercovers" is also doing some tinkering.
Mekia Cox has joined the J.J. Abrams show as Gugu Mbatha-Raw's sister, who's unaware of her and her brother-in-law's (Boris Kodjoe) spy exploits. She replaces Jessica Parker Kennedy, who played the part in the pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Cox had a recurring part on "90210" last season as Dixon's (Tristan Wilds) older girlfriend and has also guested on "Bones" and "One Tree Hill."
- "Grey's Anatomy" star Chyler Leigh and Patricia Wettig of "Brothers & Sisters" have signed on to a Lifetime movie that sets a murder mystery inside a polygamous religious group.
It's called "The 19th Wife" and is based on a novel by David Ebershoff. Wettig plays the title character, a woman accused of killing her husband. Leigh's character, another wife in the sect, asks Wettig's excommunicated son ("The Good Wife's" Matt Czuchry) for help in clearing her name.
The movie is scheduled to premiere in the fall.

What are they doing?
NO!!, The whole dynamic of the show rides on the different point of views bt the men and women of the show, I can see why AJ COOK might be let go, but Paget Brewster not in all of the episodes? The show doesnt need any freshening, its awesome the way it is....very bad move!
NOOOOO!!! Are they insane? I love that show and all the characters.
And programs wonder why they lose their audience. Sometimes, they just don't think or maybe they want to end the program and they don't have the courage to just end it and instead they will slink away because this kind of change will not bring an audience to them and will push their regular audience away. Get ready for the last season of Criminal Minds
that is stupid i like cook they better let her character have a on screen exit. cbs has no respect for the fans of there shows. canceled without a trace cold case and ghost whisper with no time to make and ending numbers just saw the writing on the wall.
This is not a smart move. Who makes these decisions? Idiots!!!!!!
Thanks Criminal Minds. Thanks a lot. I'm sure it'll work out just great when you bring in a NEW female cast member. We'll all just feel so inclined to love her.
I've already started an anti - new character page.
This is bull!!! The entire cast is amazing and should not be broken up at all. Surely there are other ways to be cost-effective. And JJ's character should definitely be saved; the show has spent seasons revealing how vital her job and role is. They can't just suddenly take her away! I feel sorry for AJ Cook too, as she was an original cast member from the 2nd episode on. I love Paget, but she didn't join the show until season 2.
guess this means AJ's husband can't freeload anymore.
She's hot.
