'American Idol': David Archuleta performing in Washington D.C. for 4th of July celebration
"American Idol" runner-up David Archuleta is joining R&B legend Gladys Knight at the annual July 4th holiday concert in Washington D.C. "A Capitol Fourth" will air live from the west law of the Capitol at 8 p.m. ET on PBS stations across the country.Jimmy Smits is hosting the event and Reba McEntire, Darius Rucker and the National Sympathy Orchestra are also scheduled to participate in the patriotic festivities. This is the 30th anniversary of "A Capitol Fourth." It always ends with a length fireworks display.
Archie will sing the National Anthem, which we're sure will be great. We wish he would also get to do "Imagine," which seems like a nice 4th of July song and is also a piece he does very well. This is just another stop in his travels -- Archie has recently been debuting new songs at an Idaho concert, singing at the Mall of America, appearing on "Fox & Friends" and promoting his book "Chords of Strenght" on his own website.

way 2 go david - he is one of the best pop singers out there, and will do the national anthem justice. will make it a point to watch.
So proud of David! He is exceptional in performing patriotic songs and I hope he does America the Beautiful or God Bless America too. His book Chords of Strength is wonderful and uplifting. Can't wait for his new single and album!
Can't wait to fly to the states to see him! He's incredibly talented and is one of the best National Anthem singers I've heard!
Still a mystery. Where does the vocal power come from? He has only one vocal cord working. I am an adult fan reading his New York Times, best seller book. His detailed thought process helps me understand who he is, and he is a rare and amazing human being.
Maybe someone could proof read this before they post. He is performing on the "west law" of the Capitol. And promoting his book "Cords of Strenght"
I mean I know it's intern season but come on.
David is the perfect choice to sing the NA in D.C. on July 4. He is a great role model and he gives reverence to the song each time he sings it with his magical voice. I am so proud of him for all he has accomplished in just 2 years.
Congratulations, David!
