'X-Men' prequel casts James McAvoy as Prof X

james-mcavoy-prof-x-320.jpg"Wanted" star James McAvoy is moving to another superhuman-powered comic book franchise.

The Scotsman has been cast as young Professor X in Matthew Vaughn's "X-Men: First Class" at Fox, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The prequel rewinds back to when rivals Prof X and Magneto were still friends, Charles Xavier and Eric Lensherr, respectively. As they discovered their mutant powers, they had different views on mutant-human relations, which soon led them to become archenemies leading the opposing forces of the X-Men and the Brotherhood.

It's not certain if McAvoy will be playing the young version of Prof X with a full head of hair or if he'll have to shave to play the traditionally bald and wheelchair-bound telepath.

In the Bryan Singer-directed "X-Men" films, Prof X was portrayed by Patrick Stewart.

Production on "X-Men: First Class" is scheduled to begin in London this summer. The release date thus far is June 3, 2011.

Now, who for Magneto?

And how will they justify the loss of three inches in height?? McAvoy is too short for the role.

Hey Brian you´re being inmature bro... everybody knows that films are adaptations of the original source, and except for robert rodriguez´s/ frank miller Sin City, they are not carbon copies of comic books. Grow up and keep your fanboy whining to yourself!!

every inch counts
