'Weeds': Elizabeth Perkins exits show?

elizabeth-perkins-gi-320.jpg"Weeds" star Elizabeth Perkins is hopping away from Showtime.

The actresss' five-year run as breast cancer survivor and Nancy Botwin-antagonist Celia Hodes has ended, says The Hollywood Reporter.

She's landed a role in the James Marsden-starring film "Hop," which follows unemployed slacker Fred (Marsden) who must put up with the cranky Easter Bunny (voiced by Russell Brand) as a roommate after he accidentally injures him.

Perkins will play Fred's mom.

There has to be more than just a movie to lure her away from "Weeds." Apparently, she's also developing a comedy series in which she'd star.

Perkins' rep could not be reached for comment.

The sixth season of "Weeds" premieres on Aug. 16.

Sad to see her leaving Weeds, but thrilled for her getting her own show. She's fantastic.

Another actor making a stupid decision by leaving a show that is still a hit.

She is a great offset to the other characters...another reason to avoid Weeds

Celia's part has been reduced to just a joke, really, so I can see why the character would be written out. She has served no useful purpose on the show for the past two seasons.
