Wakey!Wakey! headlines on 'One Tree Hill'
"One Tree Hill" has served as a launching pad for many musical artists over the years, including Bryan Greenberg, Kate Voegele, Bethany Joy Galeotti, and Tyler Hilton -- all of whom have played musicians on the show, with their own material integrated into the plot line. Wakey!Wakey! frontman Mike Grubbs follows in their footsteps playing a bartender with some serious skills on the piano. He's the latest hire at the Tree Hill club Tric (sometimes taking over for old favorite Chase, played by "Laguna Beach" alum Stephen Colletti) and was recently signed to Peyton and Haley's Red Door Records.
Mark Schwahn, the creator of "One Tree Hill," was so intrigued by Wakey!Wakey!'s track "War Sweater" that he included it on the series' Season 6 finale, and then wrote Grubbs a recurring role. Since then, Grubbs has performed his songs "Brooklyn" and "Car Crash" on the show.
In Monday's (May 3) episode, Wakey!Wakey!'s "Dance So Good" was prominently featured as Grubbs' character wrote and sang it for his love interest, Miranda (India Beaufort). The song went over so well that Miranda burst into the recording studio and kissed Grubbs in what will surely be remembered as one of "One Tree Hill's" best musical cues.
With only two episodes left in Season 7 and no word yet on a possible Season 8, Wakey!Wakey! fans won't be seeing much more of Grubbs on "One Tree Hill" for a while. We can, however, catch him on the band's recently announced U.S. tour, or on one of their very popular Facebook streaming shows. The May 3 stream featured an appearance by "One Tree Hill" star James Lafferty.

Just a correction, it's Red Bedroom Records, not Red Door. :)
Bryan Greenberg sang? News to me.
Ooh, you're right, Trai, thanks. I'll make the correction.
Matt - he did sing! Jake's song about Peyton was on Greenberg's record.
Yeah Bryan greenbergs album is called waiting for now. It's prett good. You can find it on iTunes.
It's also India de Beaufort. On the show, Bryan Greenberg played four songs. Two of which were off of his 2007 album, "Waiting for Now." In episode 1.06 they played a "Say Yes" cover he did when the character was singing to his daughter Jenny. In episode 1.09, the songs "Mind Leak" and "Lonely World" were featured during a scene between his character of Jake and then Lucas followed by that of the open mic night. Lastly, episode 3.20 includes the scene that you had mentioned about 'Jake' singing to 'Peyton' at the bar in Savannah.
Here's hoping for a season 8!!!!
