Travis Garland 'Believe's in 'American Idol'

travis-garland-american-ido.jpgOr perhaps it is "American Idol" that believes in Travis Garland, because they welcomed the 20-year-old singer on a high-profile results show to perform his new hit "Believe."

Garland was originally part of the boyband NLT (Not Like Them), which also featured "Glee's" Kevin McHale (Artie). Garland struck out on his own and has used an endorsement from blogger Perez Hilton to really make it big.

What did you think of Garland on "American Idol"? Are you going to buy his single "Believe," which was penned by Jessica Simpson, interestingly enough. Garland's album is set to debut later this year, but getting to perform on the penultimate "American Idol" results show is a pretty good jumping-off point.

Just a really embarrassing performance - but Perez will doubtless rave about it tomorrow.

I can't believe Idol let this guy on their stage - it was like a sub standard boy band singer auditioning for a part in a group.

How can Travis get a slot on the penultimate show when former Idol contestants have albums out and can't get the promotional slot?

Andrea -

Perez not my cup of tea. Think I agree with another poster - why not give previous Idol contestants who need a boost the spotlight once again.

Of the three who were left, the best two are in the finals. A couple of girls were eliminated along the way who may have had more "star" potential than either of the finalists.

Hey, next week is the final show of the season and evidently you have a spot in the audience. How about you doing something really spectacular on camera so we can get a chance to see you in person. Like streak across the stage or dance on the judges table.

Absolutely horrible. Garland's performance gives American musicians a bad name.

i've heard his stuff, he can sing. but this performance was horrible. he needed more work on his vocals on stage. i'm sure they'll be more to come from him. the single "believe" is good.

Who makes the boots he's wearing????

NOT enjoyable to watch. The choreography seemed slow and not practiced at points, and when the high notes came around... wow. But I suppose, at some of the milder moments, it came together alright. But still... the singing...

Idol should bring other Idol artists or America's got talent artists who are amazing and working hard to make it in this industry. Why bring someone that is already signed ... I wish they bring the EriAm Sisters whose hit song Diary is number one on Alabama's radio Hot 105.7..

Lame song, lame singer and he was half lip-synching. Way to lose more ratings. Dozens of former Idols are better so why aren't they performing? I agree with allen, I can't believe Idol let this guy on their stage and how did he get a slot when former Idol contestants have albums out and can't get the promotional slot? What a shame.

at least he didnt lipsync like bieber.
this guy has raw talent. he's great. sure, perez is a dickhead, but don't hate on this guy. he's legit.
