'So You Think You Can Dance's' Nigel Lythgoe on Billy Bell and Alex Wong: 'One of them will not be in'
Korbi TV loves us some Nigel Lythgoe, not going to lie.
The "So You Think You Can Dance" show creator and judge hit the red carpet at Thursday's (May 28) Season 7 premiere and, as you'll see in the video below, it didn't take him long to start talking about the high level of dancers the show has selected this year.
"Whoever wins this season may turn out to be the best dancer we've ever had across all seven seasons."
And, of course, there are many reasons for that. For the first time in the series' history, the Top 10 contestants will partnering with an "all-star" who is already skilled in the style of dance they have to tackle each week, so the bar will be raised and the performances perhaps better.
And, because there will only be ten finalists, as opposed to the usual 20, the pool has already been narrowed down to the absolute best of the best.
In fact, two well-known "So You Think You Can Dance" hopefuls -- Billy Bell, who made Season 6's Top 20 but had to bow out because of an illness, and Alex Wong, who was selected for Season 5's Top 20 but whose contractual obligation to The Miami Ballet kept him from accepting the spot -- both auditioned for the show again this season and, as we previously reported, both made it to Vegas... but only one of them will get through.
Yep.
Nigel Lythgoe tells Korbi TV exclusively that between Bell and Wong, only one has been selected for Season 7's Top 10.

On second thought, let's wait and watch Bell and Wong's Vegas performances before we vote on which one we're pulling for.

I know this is the top 10 and not the winner, but how is that not a spoiler? At least be a bit more vague in the title of the post. But hey, since I know now, I guess I'll pull for Wong.
I loved Billy Bell last year but Alex Wong was utterly superb, if that is the guy who couldn't get out of his contract last year with his dance troupe. He was stunning.
@Brent - I agree, that is definitely a spoiler. Otherwise, why hasn't SYTYCD just announced who made it to the top 10?
I want my canadian boy Wong. He just seemed decisively better.
