'So You Think You Can Dance': Mary Murphy wants an Emmy, will visit contestants homes this season
Of the many changes "So You Think You Can Dance" will undergo this season -- Bringing back former contestants to partner with the new finalists, selecting a Top 10 instead of a Top 20 -- one of the most surprising developments is that Emmy-winning choreographer Mia Michaels will take Mary Murphy's permanent spot on the judging panel. We learned Monday (May 10) that Mary will not leave the series altogether, but return to guest judge and possibly choreograph.
Speaking to AccessHollywood.com this week, Mary appears to be welcoming the opportunity. "I have to say I was a little envious of the different choreographers getting Emmy awards," she said. "I would still like a few more shots at that."
Of course, as I previously reported, Mary will be present for the audition portion of the season, including Vegas week, which will end a bit differently this time around, according to FOX sources.
Murphy and judge Adam Shankman will be stopping by the homes of the semi-finalist contestants to reveal whether they made the Top 10 or not. Yes, both the finalists and those who don't make the cut are getting in-person visits.
Kind of brutal, no?
Any thoughts on how it will go down?
Are you pleased that "So You Think You Can Dance" is doing things differently this time around?

I am so looking forward to this season! SYTYCD is good summertime t.v.!
Wow, I was so happy Mia was returning, but no one said she was replacing Mary. She's an important presence on this show, like Simon for Idol.
Show not the same without Mary. It's like AI without Paula!
I am so disappointed Mary is not going to be on the show this year and it's just not the same she is the train master
I think the dancers are great but the judging is not that great. I love Mia Michaels but I liked her as a guest judge and not a permanent one. They need to go back to Nigel, Mary, and one guest judge. I liked Adam a lot too until he was on the entire season last time. Mary is nuts sometimes but she brings excitement to the show. Thank goodness for DVR because now I hear one line of each of the judges comments and I fast forward through the rest.
Mary made me stop watching the show , yes she did! Omg I couldn't stand her anymore thank god she's not on every show anymore. She very hard to look at to like the joker...
Mary makes the show....AND I am not happy with the new setup, or all stars, or camera angles, or the new stage, etc...
The show is not the same as it used to be. I think having two shows last year was a mistake and having the same judges each week is a mistake as well. The kids knew they did well by Mary's reaction. A different guest judge each week was the best. You always got a different point of view from somebody different. I was probably one of your biggest fans. I got alot of people at my work to start watching the show. I still of course love the show as I love dancing, but the change wasn't for the good. And also, bringing back past dancers. Big mistake. I already know and love them and my eyes go directly to them. So this year I don't even have a favourite yet, which by the top 10 I already knew who I loved.
I just want to say there is a good show and then they go up and change things. Mary Murphy made the show great. This season with the all stars is boring. Why change a good thing. It is not that I dont like Mia because I do but Mary made the show fun. Now it is boring. The all stars also make the show boring. It was better with the top 20 or what ever it was. Boring now I dont care if i watch it or not.
Where is MARY?????? If she is not back next season, I'm not watching, it is not the same without her.
