'School Pride': Sneak peek NBC's feel-good reality makeover show

school-pride-cast-320.jpgNBC wants to get into the life-changing, tearjerker reality show business in earnest.

The network has added the uplifting alternative program "School Pride" to the curriculum for fall.

It's sort of an "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" but the edifice being made over isn't a house, but a public school that's badly in need of repair. In the sneak peeks below, check out the crew coming to revamp Enterprise Middle School in Compton, Calif.

Leading the students, teachers and parents in changing this key element in their community is a team of four -- SWAT Commander Tom Stroup, interior designer Susie Castillo ("House of Payne"), comedian and former substitute teacher Kym Whitley ("Til Death") and political correspondent Jacob Soboroff ("AMC News").

"School Pride" is executive produced by "Curb Your Enthusiasm" actress Cheryl Hines and Denise Cramsey ("Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and "True Beauty").

NBC already has a few reality competition shows under its belt with "The Biggest Loser" possibly coming the closest in spirit by empowering people to change their situations and outlooks on life.

NBC tried feel-good reality on Friday nights before. "Three Wishes" should have worked but didn't (I know; I watched it and was bummed when NBC cut it short), so "School Pride" will have to rely on Team Peacock's low expectations for survival.

I wanted to know how would I apply to have my school submitted in the new show School Pride?

Try reposting the same question on Zap2it under different names. That might really help.

I thought School Pride was real until I found out the Program chose Los Angeles Center for Enrichment Studies (LACES)Middle/High School for the program. Have anyone considered the schools that are really in need? LACES have parents in the entertainment industry and that's how the school was chosen. LACES raise over $150,000 a year from "Friends". Schools in need do not have families that can contribute this amount of money. School Pride Wrong
