'Saturday Night Live' Betty White gig posts big ratings
NBC is thanking Betty White for being a friend ... and for high "Saturday Night Live" ratings. The 88-year-old host, musical guest Jay-Z and returning "SNL" alum drew the highest ratings since the 2008 November pre-election show featuring Ben Affleck and presidential nominee John McCain, according to early estimates reports Variety.
That show, which also featured Tina Fey doing her Gov. Sarah Palin impersonation, had pulled in a 9.0 rating/20 share. White's May 8th gig averaged an 8.8/21.
In the 18-49 adult demo, the episode earned a 5.1 rating, once again, just shy of the Nov. 1, 2008 record of 5.2.
White's "SNL" also boasts the top ratings for the night.

I watched SNL for the 1st time in 35 years for Betty White, loved it and now I don't need to watch SNL ever again.
Good for Betty! I missed the show but am not surprised Fey did her Sarah Palin bit, it's the only way she can get any press these days.
Tina Fey didn't do her Sarah Palin last night. They were saying the show that had the highest ratings in 2008 was when she did the impression. Read it again, Alex.
Yea, Read it Again Alex, you moron.
@ Jared Munson; Opps sorry, I stand corrected.
This was truly one of the
best shows in a very,very
long time. Betty was in
every single skit, and was
exactly what i hoped for,
laugh out loud funny. Betty
White is truly an American
treasure.
Considering Feys show is the still reigning champ at the emmys and her latest film just past 80 million this weekend, I don't think she needs to get the press. That said, I love her and I'm a democrat, but her Palin impersonations are pathetic.
Also, go Betty White
@ Soap King; The only time Fey gets any press is when she does her Sarah Palin bit, no one watches her ultra-low rated & crappy Thursday night show.....and she's ugly.
SNL is so bad on such a consistent basis that I almost didn't watch. Decided to give it a chance and I am so glad I did. That was great! But, I'm not delusional. I know you'll never get two great episodes back to back out of THAT BUNCH.
I wonder if Todd has ever mistakenly called his wife Tina? I suppose not. He's still alive. :-p
