Ryan Seacrest breaks it to 'Glee's' Mark Salling, Kevin McHale that one of them won't make glee club next season!

Someone's not making it into New Directions this Fall.

"Glee's" Mark Salling (Puck) and Kevin McHale (Artie) woke up early after their live performance in Los Angeles Thursday (May 20) night and spent 18 minutes on L.A.-based KIIS FM with Ryan Seacrest. Although they might be regretting their decision after learning that one of them isn't going to make the Glee club cut in Season 2.

Seacrest said he sent an email to the show's creator, Ryan Murphy, Thursday night asking if he could break anything to the "Glee" cast members in the morning. Murphy sent him a zinger of a response:

"You can tell them that both of their characters have to re-audition next season on the show..." reads Seacrest, pausing for initial reaction.

"Wait a minute, for the show or on the show?" asks Salling, followed by a big laugh from McHale.

Seacrest goes on, "...only one of them makes it in."

"Ohhh, ohhh, I'm totally not going to make it in," moans McHale.

Still concerned about what Murphy means by his phrasing, Salling rephrases his previous question, "But we're still going to be on the show, right?"

"Then he says, 'Ha! They know nothing of this. It could be fun,'" continues Seacrest, finishing up Murphy's email.

"For who? Fun for who?!" exclaims McHale.

Seacrest then asks them to consider the possibility of not making the Glee club: "What would happen then if one of you doesn't make it in?"

"I have to make it in," says a now sullen-sounding McHale. "I'm not going to sleep now."

For the majority of the remaining 18 minutes, we hear obsessive, fanatical Gleeks get the chance to gab on-air with Salling, 27, and McHale, 21. Although some of them were so excited they couldn't even formulate questions.

Seacrest -- or rather his team of worker bees -- attempt to get Murphy on the phone to clarify his cryptic email for the "Glee" guys, but to no avail.

"Well, thanks for ruining my day," jokes (we think) McHale at the end of the interview.

Somehow we don't think the "Glee" guys have too much to worry about. But we have to admit we're intrigued by Murphy's twist for the Fall!

Why not just cut Finn?

He can't sing or dance, while both Puck and Artie can. It makes no sense.

I agree with Julie. Cory Montieth is a terrible singer and has two left feet. I don't understand why they try and sell him as the best male singer in New Directions. Neil Patrick Harris and Jonathan Groff are better singers and they're just guest stars. Kevin and Mark HAVE to make the cut next year, both on the show AND in the glee club.

I don't believe Seacrest

CM is a much better actor singer and dancer than MS or KM.

Wow, could the two first comments be anymore rude? Cory Monteith is a talented actor and perfomer who does his damn hardest. Give him some credit. Seems there's no such thing as respect anymore. You don't even know what's really going to happen with this storyline yet so stop making judgments.

Cory and Puck are very popular with my tween girls, and we all know that tween girls rule TV. So say goodbye to Artie next yr.

But Cory Monteith ISN'T as good a singer as most of the rest of the Glee Club! And he's certainly no dancer. Watching him lurch around the floor makes me proud of my own crappy dancing. And the fact that the character is supposed to be some kind of vocal prodigy makes it worse; he sounds like he SWALLOWED the autotuner, and is way outmatched by Mark Salling and Kevin McHale. That's not the actor's fault at all, but just because it's mean doesn't mean it's not true.

Cory Monteith is a far better actor than Mark or Kevin combined. The dumb jock character Finn is a very hard role to play with empathy but Cory embodies the character with such heart and an earnestness which is very touching. He did not have any musical background before Glee, but he's worked damn hard. If you watch the Glee live concert videos on Youtube, you can see that he holds his own on stage with singers like Mark and Kevin who have years of experience behind them. I hope that fans get it through their heads that Finn is not going anywhere. If Rachel is the talent, Finn is the heart of Glee. The club only took off when Finn joined in, merging the world of the musical geeks and the "popular" kids.

Glee is not American Idol. The music is not the whole show. The songs do not make the show, they are accompanying the storyline. The actors have act in order to push the plot ahead, Glee would fail in the long run if they just concentrated on the singing and performance aspects. They need good plot and good acting to keep people tuning in. The song and dance is just icing on the cake. That's why they need good actors like Cory to leverage the plot. That's why have actors who sing, singers who act and dancers who spurt minor lines and dance.
