Paula Abdul's 'Got to Dance' at CBS

paula-abdul-wi-320.jpgPaula Abdul has a new TV job -- but not in any of the places where she'd previously been rumored to land.

The former "American Idol" judge will be joining the new CBS series "Got to Dance," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show will feature dancers of all ages and styles, both solo and in pairs or groups, competing for viewer votes. Abdul will also be an executive producer of the series and mentor contestants.

"Got to Dance" is likely to premiere in early 2011.

Since she left "Idol" last year, Abdul has been courted by several networks. ABC reportedly offered her a spot on "Dancing With the Stars" and was in talks with her about involvement in a "Star Search" reboot, but neither came together. She was also invited to appear on FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance," and her "Idol" cohort Simon Cowell hinted that he'd like to have her for the American version of "The X Factor."

"Got to Dance" is based on a British series that premiered earlier this year.

Another dancing show? Yawn...

I would have so rather seens her on The X Factor. At least if this gets cancelled there is a chance.

I'm really tired of "this person/persons perform for judges critiques and audience vote" shows. We've got American Idol, Last Comic Standing, America's Next Top Model, America's Got Talent, So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing With The Stars, America's Best Dance Crew and now this fall we add The X-Factor and then midseason next year Got To Dance. It's over-saturation to the max!

I agree with Jetta and no longer watch ANY of the reality shows. I don't expect to start watching any of them either no matter who is on them. Burn out factor I guess.

Is it me or are we getting way too many British-type shows here?

I like the shows based on britsh shows i am going to get addicted to paula's new show the same way i used to be addicted to idol, because there's no one interesting on idol anymore it would be boring. and i might watch the x-factor too.
