'Heroes': Tim Kring talks cancellation, keeping universe 'alive'

heroes-masi-oka-02-320.jpg"Heroes" had a respectable-ish four years, but now that NBC is pulling the plug, Tim Kring is addressing the fans.

The creator released the following statement about the show:

"I want to first extend my deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the legion of enthusiastic fans who have watched 'Heroes' on TV, online, DVR, DVD and mobile over the last four seasons.

Every week more than 45 million TV viewers around the world, as well as millions of social and digital media-based fans, have made 'Heroes' one of the five most-watched shows across traditional and digital media screens in the history of television.

For NBC, I certainly understand the challenge of creating a business model around a show which arrived precisely as the audience was finding new ways to watch traditional content on multiple screens.

I personally have had 12 great years with my friends at NBC, and with 'Heroes,' they provided me a rare opportunity to put a message of hope, interconnectivity and global consciousness into the world. For that I am grateful and look forward to finalizing our discussion about a number of ways to keep the 'Heroes' universe alive for its fans."

As Zap2it previously reported, one of those ways to keep it alive -- or at least give it proper closure -- could be a two-hour movie event tying up loose ends.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a wrap-up on TV. Watch, it will most likely come in the form of a comic book.

just like the series run, Kring's statement went from coherent and great to completely confusing and stupid.

I am one of the fans that love Heroes this is one of the best show i ever seen.I know the ratings was sky high,I know everybody love the show. Please!bring back Heroes.

What happened to Peter's girlfriend in the future from Season 2?

I think they should bring it back, rename it "The Sylar Show, Starring Sylar As Sylar" and feature more Sylar. Because God knows we haven't had enough freakin' Sylar in the past four years.

I don't really recall that many loose ends. Clair taking the plunge and going public was a good way to end the series, in my view.

yeah the only loose ends I can see is that whole future storyline they brought up briefly then dropped competely where hiro was killed by ando and claire was hunting peter I would have liked to have seen that kind of story line instead of more whiny cheerleader and is he evil or isnt he syler

@ william

Hate to tell you this, but the ratings were not sky high. They were actually ground zero.

William:

If the ratings had been sky high, then NBC would not have cancelled it. It was cancelled because the ratings for each season were lower than the season previous. Given how expensive a show like this is, it didn't have enough viewers in the final season to warrant any more episodes.

They said the same thing about "Angel"
