Gregory Itzin, Eriq La Salle have 'Covert Affairs'

gregory-itzin-eriq-la-salle.jpgGregory Itzin, most famous for playing evil President Logan on "24," and Eriq La Salle, the prickly Dr. Peter Benton from "ER," have signed on as multi-episode guest stars for the USA summer show "Covert Affairs," a USA rep confirms to Zap2it.

Itzin will be playing Henry Wilcox, a former Director of Clandestine Services and father to Jai, a current CIA officer. Jai is played by "Heroes" alum Sendhil Ramamurthy (Dr. Suresh).

Meanwhile, Eriq La Salle will play an African operative who quit the agent after a nervous breakdown. He has so far resisted coming back to the CIA, but something tells us La Salle's character might just get sucked back in this time around.

"Covert Affairs" is an hour-long CIA drama premiering on USA July 13 at 10 p.m. It is being paired with buddy cop-heist dramedy "White Collar," which should make for an excellent block of original programming for USA.

God, I hope Eriq LaSalle's "African" accent is better than the laughable one he used on the "24" finale.

Yeah, that accent was pretty bad. Couldn't decide if he wanted to be from South Africa or South Central.
