'Glee': Season 3 already picked up by FOX, Gleeks rejoice

glee-cory-monteith-lea-michele-320.jpgFox has renewed "Glee" for a third season -- before Season 2 has even started filming. "Glee" is the No. 1 new series in the coveted adult demographic, so it's no surprise that Fox plans to keep it around, but it is a sign of the network's confidence in the show's ability to keep up the hype.

Peter Rice, the Fox Networks Group Entertainment Chairman, says, "In just one year, 'Glee' has transcended the television landscape and emerged as a global pop culture phenomenon," in a statement to Entertainment Weekly.

Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly, who was interrupted by Sue Sylvester herself on stage at the FOX Upfronts presentation on May 17, adds that "'Glee' has one of the most active, devoted fan bases I've ever seen, and we couldn't be more thrilled to give Gleeks a third season of their favorite show."

"Glee" executive producer Ryan Murphy says, "It's been a whirlwind year - from shooting the pilot to performing at the White House to the concert tour that began last week - and yet we all feel like we've just begun this amazing musical journey. We think our Gleeks worldwide are going to love what we'll have in store for them in seasons two and three."

Looks like Rachel, Finn, Kurt, Quinn and company have at least two more years of high school to look forward to. Bring on the slushies!

This is GREAT news!

I know I'm being stickler but there's no way those kids are sophomores. I guess I'll REALLY have to suspend disbelief. :)

Yes! Excellent news!

That's crazy. I really enjoy Glee but the over the top publicity is starting to get on my nerves. It's a fun show but too much hype can sometimes hurt a show. I hope it's not the case here but I can see it happening.

oh **** ur kinda right
high school is just three years **** so they could like oinly have 3 seasons no no no that is unacceptable

who wants to campaign with me to make highschool longer

no srsly lik ehsm was only 3 movies is this only gonna be 3 seasons

This is so exciting! Glee has most definitely created a large and diverse fan base, and all of us are excited to see the show continue to succeed. As a Glee fanatic, I was also thrilled to hear that Glee's Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison will be performing at this year's Tony Awards! I am so excited to watch them next Sunday night, June 13th at 8pm on CBS! I hope you guys can all watch too!
