'Glee' lands post-Super Bowl spot
The makings of a good Super Bowl: Chips, beer and ... "Glee"? FOX has given the coveted spot following the big game to the musical comedy "Glee," according to an announcement of the network's upcoming 2010-2011 schedule Monday (May 17).
When asked whether the show was a good fit with the super Bowl XLV crowd, FOX programming chief Kevin Reilly said that the audience is so big that the show will get huge numbers regardless, adding "I don't think 'Grey's Anatomy' was a perfect fit a few years ago, and that worked out pretty well."
Hmm, will we see Kurt (Chris Colfer) reprise his "Single Ladies" performance? We can only hope.
"Glee" returns in the fall for its sophomore season, moving to the earlier 8 p.m. slot on Tuesdays. After its hiatus and the "very special" Super Bowl episode, it will come back for its spring premiere on Wednesdays, following "American Idol."

Makes sense - but I think the Glee producers need to be careful...
With reports of diva behavior, rumored affairs, the Newsweek saga and an over-exposed cast... is a Glee backlash brewing?
Here's a really interesting blog piece on the growing Glee backlash - and how the show's makers can keep the show on top for seasons to come...

What a surprise! Not!
So FOX will squander its post-SB slot to try and bolster the average for its new supposed hit...
Reminds you of anything?
It reminds me of NBC squandering that opportunity on boosting The Office's averages so it could pretend a little longer that it was a real hit.
So far, the pilot season has only shown it's business as usual at the networks.
So look for more audience erosion next year. :(
Unless CBS manages to surprise, as I have given up on CW and ABC as long as their management isn't changed.
Wait....is this show even for MEN??????
Shawn, have you ever bothered to watch the show? Anyone can enjoy it.
Rena, what are you talking about? Glee is one of the biggest hit shows on TV and is clear phenomenon. Or are you talking about Fox maybe should have used that timeslot to give exposure to a new show or lesser known show?
TJ...asking if I've ever watched Glee is like asking if I've ever watched America's Next Top Model. I just don't believe there's a huge number of men, or at least heterosexual men who are watching Glee. No offense to any who are.
It's not that I'm trying to my hardest to be prejudiced towards GLEE, but EVERY commercial I've seen for it has been singing, singing, dancing, dancing...not exactly a show that men would likely look forward to watching.
When Rita says that LOST isn't a phenomenon I just take it as maybe she forgot to take her medication for the day. Now Glee? I don't hear ANYONE in any circle I travel in talking about this show and I'm from NYC. If any city cares about singing and stage dancing you'd think it would be NYC.
No shirts...posters...huge dedicated websites...or multiple pop culture references. I think we need to chalk this one up to straight hype.
Shawn, straight hype is extremely wrong as far as I know about 30 percent of the people I talk to watch the shows with their families and a lot of younger people kow watch it also. I for one watch with my family. I watch football and was involved with a lot sports. Maybe single men don't watch it but I know a lot involved with the theatre that do.
Who do I have to kill to get rid of Glee forever?
