'Desperate Housewives' goodbye: Why we're not worried about Kyle MacLachlan
Don't get us wrong. Any Zap2it reader knows we're bonkers for "Desperate Housewives." But, let's face it, Kyle MacLachlan's talent was being wasted on the ABC show.So, when recent reports spread that he's probably leaving the show, we first said, "Duh. Did you watch the finale?"
And then we breathed a sigh of relief for MacLachlan.
We have been big fans of his for years. So when we watched his character turn into the equivalent of Bree's punching bag and then later the burden she had to carry, we knew it was time MacLachlan made a move off of Wisteria Lane.
We first fell in love with MacLachlan when he played Paul Atreides in "Dune":
That would be the first of several amazing projects with visionary director David Lynch. The two would go on to work on "Blue Velvet," the TV series, "Twin Peaks," and the big screen spin-off, "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me."

Over the years that followed, he would go on to appear in Oliver Stone's "The Doors" and Paul Verhoeven's camp classic, "Showgirls," among other films. In 2000, he would appear as the stuffy blueblood, Trey MacDougal, in HBO's "Sex and the City."
While he wasn't Charlotte's soul mate, we loved his dry, clueless turn on the show:
So, yes, we're sad Orson's story on "Desperate Housewives" may end, but we're excited to see where Kyle MacLachlan lands next! Aren't you?
