'Dancing With the Stars' vs. 'So You Think You Can Dance': Zap2it's Dancing Reality TV Smackdown
This week marks the passing of the dance torch from ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" to FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance.""DWTS" will wrap up its 10th season on Tuesday (May 25), and "SYTYCD" will kick off its 7th season two days later on Thursday (May 27), thus allowing us to avoid any major dancing reality show withdrawal.
"DWTS" started Season 10 with a bang, pulling in its highest premiere numbers ever with preliminary overnight ratings estimating that 23.9 million viewers tuned in to watch. This season was arguably the most talked about season ever, thanks in large part to that famous mom of eight that America seems to either love or hate (or love to hate).
Now "SYTYCD" is about to start a new season -- with a new format. All-stars from previous seasons -- including Twitch, Comfort, Pasha and many others -- will return as partners for Season 7's Top Ten dancers, similar to the format of "DWTS."
