'Castle' season finale: Oh Rick Castle, you fool
[Spoiler alert: If you haven't yet seen the season finale of "Castle," turn around and go watch it. After that, come back here so we can discuss what went down during the hour.]Rick Castle, you are one silly, impatient man.
Listen, we get it. After two seasons of chasing Beckett around the playground, she got a new boyfriend and it wounded you. And that's totally cool.
We even understand your need to take a break from the working relationship the two of you have formed. We just wish you had paid a little attention to her reaction when you broke the news, because it clearly shook her.
That, coupled with the fact that her friends pretty much told her she was going to lose you if she didn't come to grips with her feelings, led her to break it off with the new b/f.
So that was progress.
Too bad you were oblivious to it. And your poker buddies didn't help matters by telling you she was a distraction.

But had you been observing her -- you know, the reason you initially claimed to be hanging around the NYPD -- you would have seen that Beckett wasn't cool with your impending exit and, when she pulled you aside at your going away party, she had something pretty important to tell you.
Perfect timing for you to blurt out that whole deal about rekindling your relationship with your publisher/ex-wife.

The ending really sucked...
I LOVE this show so much, but it's killing me! Thank God it's back next year.
Noooooo! I really wish she had been able to say what she wanted to say. I mean, I get that they are only in the second season and they have to follow the TV Bible on how to write shows or something...but I would have liked to have seen them give it a shot.

I mean the episode was great, but as a Caskett shipper... THAT TOTALLY SUCKED!
(As you can see I'm still in shell shock and can't come up any words other than "That sucked!" to describe how I'm feeling right now)

Heartbreaking and leaving us wanting more...perfect ending! It's too soon for happily ever after!!
Loved the episode, if not absolutely loving the ending, I mean, of course I feel terrible for Kate ( and the gang...the shot of them all peering out the window trying to see what was going on, the Chief and Espo's wise words...they might take this news worse than the fans will!!) but I still think it's too soon for them to be coupled!
And yes, I will miss Demming and, not surprisingly, I already dislike Gina! (And the pattern holds true, Marisa!)
First of all, let me say that this is the episode I loved to hate. It was obvious from the start that there was a train wreck coming, that's the nature of the season finale and I'm okay with that. What really gets me about this ending though, is how Beckett's actions hit so close to home for me. She should stand strong! Take pleasure in what she has! Instead, she allowed Castle to pull her strings, and ended up throwing away a good thing, trading it for a dream. How many times have I done the same? Sabotaged a great relationship for the hope that some other guy might be better? And how many times has that other guy turned his back on me? This is why this ending is so poignant - I feel her pain as deeply as if it were my own. And that's what makes great television. The Castle crew spent the last two seasons getting me invested in the show and it's characters, then they send in Andrew Marlowe as the finisher to turn those screws and make me scream. Well done, Andrew. Well done all of you.
Thanks for all of the wonderful Castle scoop....I know you will keep it up through Season 3 and beyond!
