Box Office: 'Iron Man 2' tops the weekend; 'Robin Hood' steals second
As expected, "Iron Man 2" topped the weekend box office while "Robin Hood" stole the second place spot.The Robert Downey Jr. action sequel grossed $53 million in its second weekend in theaters while Russell Crowe's "Robin Hood" reboot, new in theaters this weekend, took in $37.1 million.
Other new releases this weekend included the Amanda Seyfried-starring "Letters to Juliet", which placed a distant third with $13.8 million, and "Just Wright" with Queen Latifah only managed $8.5 million.
The top ten grossing films of the weekend are as follows:
- "Iron Man 2" - $53.0 million
- "Robin Hood" - $37.1 million
- "Letters to Juliet" - $13.8 million
- "Just Wright" - $8.5 million
- "How to Train Your Dragon" - $5.1 million
- "A Nightmare on Elm Street" - $4.7 million
- "Date Night" - $4.0 million
- "The Back-Up Plan" - $2.5 million
- "Furry Vengeance" - $2.3 million
- "Clash of the Titans" - $1.3 million
