'Big Brother' gets a new night, 'Flashpoint' returns on CBS

julie-chen-320.jpg"Big Brother" will be relocating, at least for one night a week, when it returns for its 12th edition in the summer.

CBS has announced premiere dates for several summer shows, including the return of "Flashpoint" to Friday nights and another Canadian import, "The Bridge," which will air on Saturday starting in July. The network is also burning off the remaining episodes of "Three Rivers" in June -- which, combined with The CW's airing of "Moonlight," will make for an Alex O'Loughlin-filled summer.

"Big Brother" is set to premiere Thursday, July 8. Instead of its usual Tuesday-Thursday-Sunday schedule, the show will air on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Live evictions will still take place in the Thursday episodes. Sunday episodes start July 11 and Wednesday episodes July 14.

"Flashpoint" will begin its third season on CBS at 9 p.m ET Friday, June 4 (Season 3 aired in Canada last fall). It moves back to 10 p.m. starting July 16.

"The Bridge," which stars Aaron Douglas ("Battlestar Galactica") as a veteran cop who becomes head of his city's police union, premieres at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 10. CBS picked up the show, which it co-produces with Canada's CTV, at the 2009 upfronts but never found a spot for it on the schedule during the regular season. The spot it has now -- on the least-watched night of the week during the least-watched time of the year -- doesn't augur well for its prospects beyond this summer (although it performed reasonably well in Canada in the spring).

As for "Three Rivers," the medical drama starring O'Loughlin -- who's since moved on to CBS' "Hawaii Five-0" remake -- will air its final four episodes on consecutive Saturdays starting June 5.

I live in Canada - never saw a trailer for the Bridge, never saw an episode, no commercials... not sure how it, supposedly, did well. I've only seen I think 1 billboard.

As long as Andrea is doing the Big Brother recaps here, then I am cool.

For viewers in Canada like myself, CTV heavily promoted The Bridge during the Winter Olympics in February. The show ran on Friday nights since the start of March and just wrapped up its first season.

So CBS will put an import drama on Saturdays in the summer but won't bother putting anything of substance on that night during the regular season? Very weird.

I agree with Jon, I live in downtown Toronto and combined with that and watching CTV on a regular basis (CTV gets AI afteral) I see a ton of promotion for The Bridge. Lots of TV spots, too, and they made the series look quite interesting.

It will probally resume the tues/thurs/sunday pattern once it begins. Remember BB10 anyonw?

When is 'Flashpoint' going to be aired again. I thought it was on Friday night at 8pm but I can't even find it listed on the guide anywhere. This is one of my favorite shows and I miss wathing it.
