'American Idol': Lee DeWyze breaks down crying during hometown performance

On Friday (May 14), "American Idol" contestant Lee DeWyze escaped the pressures of Hollywood for a very busy day back in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. First, Dewyze appeared on "Good Morning Chicago" where he made a valiant attempt at forecasting the weather, then went on to do a bevy of radio interviews.
Fans were delighted when DeWyze stopped by the AT&T Mobile store in Skokie, Il. to perform "The Boxer." Midway through his song, DeWyze told the crowd, "This is so hard!" Fans responded with encouraging cheers of "Go Lee!" but even with the confidence booster, DeWyze was overcome with emotion and had to stop singing for a while.
After another attempt to continue the song, DeWyze opted just stop singing and focus on the guitar. "Just sing it for me, ready?" he asked, and his home town fans were more than happy to oblige.
Once he made it to the end of the song, Lee headed off to Wrigley Field to throw out the first pitch during the Chicago Cubs game. He also stopped by his high school, the Forest View Alternative School, and performed a concert for over 40,000 people at Arlington Park.

Big Lee fan here. And I certainly hope that he makes it to the finals. And if he does, my hope is that he will sing "The Boxer" for us once again.

I hope this kid loses, everyone is treating him like the second comming. He has not cured cancer, or found a way to stop the oil leaks. The kid cant even sing. This is the text book definition of the dumbing down of America. LOSE LEE LOSE!!!!!!!

I like Lee a lot, but I like Crystal for the win, although if Lee won that would fine. Crystal or Lee as the AI 9 season would be just A-OK for me! I fully expect Lee to win even though I prefer Crytal to win...just a little bit more. I think Lee will for sure out-vote Crystal.
