'American Idol': Lady Gaga demands a fat check for her performance. Worth it?
It's going to be a ratings bonanza when Lady Gaga appears on "American Idol" on Wednesday (May 5). But, it also sounds like the singer is making out pretty well herself.OK! magazine reports that Lady Gaga demanded a fat check for $250,000 for the "Idol" performance. The producers apparently thought that was ridiculous.
"They thought it was just crazy she was asking for so much money," a source tells the magazine. "It was just too much money to pay talent for a performance."
Obviously, the producers sang a new tune and paid up. We don't know exactly what they paid her, but we're sure it couldn't be much less than what she asked for.
We hope the top five Idol mentor, Harry Connick Jr., is still happy with what he was paid. If not, we're sorry, dude!

Considering what a bore-fest the show has been this season, I say pay her what she wants. I'm pretty sure that she will liven things up, at least for one episode.

For a pre-taped performance? Hell no. They might as well take something from one of her concerts off youtube...
I would say the majority of the performances you see on the AI result nights are pre-taped. EW does a recap from inside the auditorium, and Gaga's performance was recorded after last week's results.
It happens, and frankly, you won't even notice it.
Wait a second. Monica, Chandler, Rachel, ROSS and all those frick and frack got 1 million per half-hour episode.
Lady GaGa for a full hour show, for a results show, for each of the silly little wannabes who sing one of her songs... all this on the number one rated show in America?
