'Ugly Betty' TV Query: What was that song Betty and Daniel danced to?

ugly-betty-abc-daniel-dancing.jpgWe bet last night's episode of "Ugly Betty" has etched itself into your mind. It has for us.

Most of all, we'll never forget the scene when Daniel and Betty took to the dance floor and Justin and Austin bravely swayed to the music as everyone tried not to cry.

Zap2it reader, Lori Radcliff, asked via Facebook, "Did anybody catch that great song playing when Betty was dancing w/Daniel? Who sings that?"

Well, Lori, thank you for your post. You weren't the only one who was curious. Not only did we want to know, but we're sure a lot of other viewers do, as well.

That touching song is "A Love That Will Last" by Renee Olstead:

Wasn't that scene unforgettable?

Unforgettable and brilliantly done. With time so short, its nice they took time for love that will last forever. As will the love of many of us for these characters, the writers who created them and the actors who gave them life.

Renee Olstead should look familiar to TV watchers too, since she played one of the kids on CBS' "Still Standing" and is now on ABC Family's "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." The girl can definitely sing.

Oops - sorry, that wasn't the song I was asking about! Renee's is a good song, but I was actually asking about the one that played right after it, when Daniel/Betty are still dancing/talking. Anyway, I think I figured it out. I'm pretty sure it's "If I Could Fly" by Charity Chapman. Can u verify? I saw on the internet that "Fly" was also featured in an episode of "Felicity." Thx!

Found it! This is the scene from last night where you hear the song "If I Could Fly":

I loved how this song is so perfect for both Hilda and Betty romantic situation.
the line "I don't want the middle or the one before"
for hilda the middle is Archie or the coach while the one before is Santos
while for Betty the middle is Matt and the one before is Henry.
the fact that they are each dancing with their soul mate (though betty has yet to realize this) is so amazing.
yes I'm a Detty shipper :-)

And, apart from how lovely the song is ... apart from how perfect it is as a wedding-dance song ... apart from the fact that many of us never had heard it despite its being six years old (!) ... apart from how sweet it made as a backdrop for Hilda, for Betty, even for Ignacio and for Marc with Amanda (heh - you didn't think about *that* one, did ya! but their special love, too, is a love that will last) ...

HOW BEAUTIFUL IS IT THAT THIS WAS THE SONG FOR JUSTIN-AND-AUSTIN'S FIRST DANCE? and that Justin's wordless decision that his mother's celebration of love was a good time to celebrate his own, came during the wordless part of the song?

Just a beautiful moment, and one I will always choose to remember as the true series finale.
