'Ugly Betty' the movie? Ana Ortiz says America can do it!
In case you're still mourning the loss of "Ugly Betty" on ABC, this may put a smile on your face. Ana Ortiz confirms what America Ferrera told Zap2it's The Dish Rag - there's a chance we'll be getting an "Ugly Betty" movie.
"There may be a movie," Ana Ortiz tells Latina.com. "It's something that we've been talking about and it's something that America Ferrera would really love to do. That woman has so much determination that I can't imagine anything she puts her mind to not getting done."
Of course, there is no official news of a feature film. And if it were green lit, it may be a couple years off, but we believe "Ugly Betty" fans are willing to wait to see what happens to the beloved characters after the show ended this week.
"I'm happy with the way [the show] turned out," Ferrera told The Dish Rag. "And hopefully the fans will want more and they will come back and see 'Ugly Betty: The Movie' and we can see what life after the show brought for this character and all these characters that the audience is in love with."
So, how does Ortiz feel about the show's ending?
"Hilda deserves some happiness and I think she finally finds it," says Ortiz. "Everybody finds their glue, so to speak."

I would have loved to see some Daniel/Betty love, but the way they did is was pleasing to both sides of the demographic. As to a movie... YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! I couldn't be happier! I SOOOO hope it pans out! I absolutely love the show and sincerely wish that this is not the last. I love how everyone got their happy ending. I think Horta did very, very well and look forward to seeing America Ferrera and Eric Mabius and I would love to see if Connor gets out and to Willie!

There's already been an "Ugly Betty" movie. It was called "The Devil Wears Prada".

NO MOVIE. The end of the TV series was bittersweet and perfect.
In the same way that Sex And The City should have stopped at the end of the series, so too should Ugly Betty. Be proud of what you did and the interesting story you told. Don't just be money grubbing participants in sub-par 2-hour movies that will take away from the series. It stands strong on its own!
I would love to see an Ugly Betty movie made. While I loved the series finale - hey you must leave 'em wanting more - ALWAYS! But just like Sex and the City I would like to see what happened afterwards. I want more Betty and Daniel. I really really do. I would be first in line. Please let there be a movie.
I totally agree with those here that posted it would ruin the series ending.
She made it from Ugly Betty to Betty. The movie - via its title alone (Ugly Betty: the movie)- would imply a step backwards.
Ana Ortiz's heart is in the right place, and all that I've read indicates this was a very, very close cast but this project would have to have the MOTHER of all scripts to bring the 'ugly' back to Betty.
Two tickets, please! I miss the show already. What a GREAT series finale...one of the best. Gone too soon.
