'Two and a Half Men': Charlie Sheen denies last-minute salary ploy

charlie-sheen-leaving.jpgIn a statement to People, "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen says that "much speculation and rumor has arisen from my current status surrounding 'Two and a Half Men.' All of the numbers reported in the press are false. Claims from 'inside sources' regarding offers from the studio as well as my salary, on their best day, are without merit."

"Both parties have known the score for over a year. In no way, has this been a hasty or negligent eleventh hour surprise," continues Sheen. "We tape the final episode of the season [April 9]. If tonight's show is the end for me as Charlie Harper, so be it. Another journey has begun. I take from the experience 161 shows filled with a kaleidoscope of amazing experiences, memories, friendships and gratitude. I remain humbly inspired."

Sheen's rep Stan Rosenfield reiterates, "A negotiation ploy is something you do to get the best possible deal. Charlie told them what he wanted a year ago."

When Sheen films his final episode on April 9, he will have fulfilled his contract. The news about Sheen's possible departure, (which People broke April 1) reportedly came as a surprise to everyone involved with the CBS sitcom.

The show can not be complete without Charlie & if he leaves the show it should be renamed as half man instead of Two & a Half Men...

The show's dead w/o Charlie...but I'd still kind of like to see this loser shoot himself in the foot. Of course, I expect him to get his money. That's good news for the ******, sports book, and liquor stores in his neighborhood.

Without Charlie Sheen, this show will not last.
It's called Two and a Half Men for a reason.
I mean, what are they going to do with Jake when he grows up? He's 16 right now and in two seasons he'll practically be a man himself.

Alan is the half men, jake and charlie are the two men

I think they should write Charlie out. He has totally lost it. Send him off to find Rose again and just let the show carried on as is until they can figure out what to do with or without him. The actors on the show hold their own and with their wonderful talent are more than capable of carrying on without the constant disruptions of a talented actor whose ego and addiction has totally ruined his life and his ability to function. Seeing his pictures on TV tonight shows the extent of the damage he has done to himself. He is actually much much worse in real life than the part played on the show that made him what he could have been today. Don't penalize the talent that makes the show what it is.
