Toby Keith's 'Cryin' for Me': Wayman Tisdale tribute at Academy of Country Music awards

Toby Keith gave a heartrending tribute to NBA player and jazz bass guitar great Wayman Tisdale with his song "Cryin' for Me" at the 2010 Academy of Country Music awards.Tisdale passed away on May 15, 2009 after a two-year battle with osteosarcoma (cancer in his knee). He had his leg amputed from the disease in 2008 but never stopped fighting to beat the cancer. He is survived by his wife REgina and four children.
Toby Keith dedicated his 2009 album "American Ride" to Tisdale and wrote "Cryin' for Me (Wayman's Song)" in his memory. Toby Keith and Dave Koz, a jazz saxophone player, performed the tribute song for the 2010 ACM awards. We'll post video just as soon as it becomes available but for now, check out the music video for "Cryin' for Me."

Great performance by Toby. He is one that doesn't get the awards he so richly deserves.
I've seen Toby perform that song live recently. It was pretty emotional then but it didn't compare to last night. The raw emotion of that performce showed the Toby that deserved to be entertainer of the year. Clearly very emotional for Wayman's family crying in the audience as well.
Toby what a great son and It make me feel your sentiment. Why don't they give rewards to people who sing song about emotions. Instead of this more moedern guitar music. I think they have too many electronic sounds. Nothing sounds like a guitar, banjo, fiddle and with NO electic ampliers.
GREAT SONG...THIS SONG TOUCHED ME SO DEEPLY BECAUSE IT REMINDED ME OF MY NEIGHBOR...MY FRIEND... TONY.
TONY'S SMILE, HIS LAUGHTER, & HIS CARING WAYS WILL FOREVER BE IN MY HEART. THANKS TOBY FOR WRITING SUCH A HEART FELT SONG. I PLAYED YOUR SONG FOR MY FRIEND AT HIS FUNERAL. THE RESPONSES THAT I GOT AFTERWARDS FOR OVERWHELMING FROM HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS. THEY WANTED TO KNOW WHO SANG THAT SONG & WHERE COULD THEY GET IT. THEY FELT THE LOVE IN THE LYRICS.

WOW!!! I am so blown away. what an Awesome tribute to one of my favorite jazz artist. i had the pleasure of meeting Wayman and he was the most down to earth celebrity you would ever meet. Toby Keith "YOU ARE THE BOMB" this song deserves high recognition. whose my daddy? You Are!! Blessings to you and keep the great music coming..
This literally brought me to tears. Why can't we celebrate more friendships like this one. One that transcends race, and culture. Unbelievable, this is what America should be. Toby you are beyond words. Thank you for loving that brother.
