'Supernatural': Will Jim Beaver return for Season 6?

jensen-ackles-jim-beaver-32.jpgFans of "Supernatural" are used to their favorite characters being killed off, despite the fact that on this show, the dead don't often stay dead. As Season 5 winds toward its May 13 finale, one question is on all of our minds: Will Bobby survive the showdown with Lucifer?

Jim Beaver sat down with Zap2it to discuss Bobby's fate, though he was cautious about giving too much away. "Well, I have finished this season's filming. Let's put it this way. Bobby ends up pretty much worse-off than anybody's ever seen him," Beaver says. It's a bold statement, considering Bobby's steady spiral into depression this season after being confined to a wheelchair and forced to kill his beloved wife (for the second time).

Jim has been antagonizing his fans via his Twitter all season long, teasing Bobby's possible demise. After shooting his final scenes for the season, Beaver tweeted: "Finished my last scene, marched into makeup & got my hair all chopped off--1st time in 5 years! Yay!", sending fans into a frenzy over whether that means Bobby is a goner.

Remember, even if Bobby does die, that's no indication that Beaver won't be back for more. After all, the show's protagonists (and occasional antagonists) Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have both kicked the bucket multiple times only to come back swinging. When we ask Jim if he's interested in returning for Season 6, he plays coy with us. "I could be Bobby's evil twin," he laughs. "Robby!"

More seriously, he says, "Anything Bob Singer and Eric Kripke ever want me to do, chances are I'm going to say yes, because I like 'em. They've been very good to me. And for reasons beyond my understanding, they seem to like me too."

In the video above, Jim shares his feelings on Bobby's as-of-yet purely hypothetical death, relating it to his experience on "Deadwood," when his character was killed off. "I don't like the party going on without me," he admits.

When we try to press him further, though, he chooses his words very, very carefully. "Eric Kripke, although he's not going to be the actual show runner of 'Supernatural' next season - he's still going to be involved - but that frees him up to do other projects. I might like to be involved with one of those and I don't want to tick him off by giving away stuff that happens in the project I'm currently involved in."

I LOVE THIS MAN!!

Supernatural is not supernatural without Bobby!!!!!

I think they're two big questions for season 6. 1. Will Bobby make it and be part of it? 2. Can we keep everybody's favorite angel in a post-apocalypse season?

I hope he doesn't get his head cut off. I 'd rather see Bobby in season 6th than a returning Castiel....or a returning ''Jimmy''...since Kripke promised to end the angel story, which I 'am tired of already. Season 5 has sucked major. Despite the lackluster CW giving Supernatural another season...this series seems to be going south in the ratings.

I'm positive Bobby will be back next season. He's one of the few bright spots on this show anymore. This season has been the worst so far with the dumb angel apocalypse story line. I hope we won't have Jimmy/Castiel around next season. I detest the character. I think others must agree hence the lower ratings.

What a bunch of whiney dolts. Shut up and let the producers execute the show they desire; if you don't like the story, go write your own show. There are many of us devoted fans who happily enjoy this Supernatural ride and don't have to complain about everything "we" don't particularly like.

Ozzie - your comments make me sad. The whole "Angel" storyline is what the entire Supernatural story has been leading up to since we found out about demons in S1. You'd be hard pressed to find more than a handful of people who agree with you - and I feel sorry that you can't grasp the awesomeness of the SN writers' storytelling.

Everything I read suggested the ratings spiked when people found out Misha was gonna be a series regular in Season 5. Not the highest of the series, but definitely higher than they'd been getting. Plus, they're up in the women 18-34, which is a demographic that advertisers apparently want, and they're up against Grey's Anatomy. So many parameters with ratings - and I hear they haven't included the DVR numbers yet.

Agreed with Eric, that if you cannot see how the Apocalyspe storyline is the essentially the plannned endgame from season 1 and how the mythology played out subtly and is being tied together in what was to be the final season, you (Ozzie and Katy sound like the same person) are the idiot(s) You are entitled to your opinion, but instead of whining, dazzle everyone here and give us an example of how you would have done this season differently and how you would've tied everything together.... I suspect you cannot

I am loving this season! You can see how Eric Kripke has had this storyline planned out since the beginning and I can't wait to see how he ends this season. And do not kill Bobby!!! He is my favorite and I need him here next season.
