'Romantically Challenged': Can we talk about it?

alyssa-milano-romantically-challenged-320.jpgThough the title of this post suggests some sort of self-help discussion group -- and we can do that here in the comments section too, if it's so desired -- I mostly just want to get your first reaction to the pilot episode of Alyssa Milano's new ABC comedy, "Romantically Challenged," which premiered Monday night.

Though I will say that I wasn't expecting too much from it, I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by the half hour. I'll give anything with Samantha Micelli a shot, since we've been friends since, what, the mid-'80s? But I think it's actually the comedic talents of Kyle Bornheimer  ("Worst Week") that kept the episode going. And the lines of Josh Lawson's character served as a decent complement to what Bornheimer was doing.

Sure, the whole thing is a little hokey, maybe trying a bit too hard at first. But I'm kind of liking it.

"Kind of liking it" is a pretty good review from me, P.S., in case you were confused.

However, I want to hear what you're thinking.

I was surprised how much I liked this show, found myself laughing out loud!

i thought it was a funny show. but i didnt really care for the "best friends" on the show. they were trying to hard to be funny and they wernt. i liked the sister she was good.

I thought that show was pretty good. I'd definitely watch another episode.

It was actually pretty good. People need to give it a chance. The characters worked well together and I could see it staying around for a little while. Not the best show of the season but not the worst by a long shot. Alyssa is a joy to waych on TV. If the show does not make it I know ABC will put her on another show. What about another Housewife on DH? Alyssa is so talented!

My take was that it was a decent setup for the premise, but when she got into the 'smile back at the guy to get him to ask you out' I automatically saw the painful divorcee right of passage.
I think they need to give her a few more quirks, and they definately should have had her looking like a soccer mom instead of 'hot girl' right away. No woman who is divorced for 5 months looks that well.
Yes, divorced women go and have spa treatments but her confidence level is all wrong.
Good supporting cast.
I will give it another shot since pilots are just a way of feeling out the characters. I have faith in Milano. She's a good egg and can handle the sitcom stresses.

I love Alyssa, but Kyle Bornheimer made my night. I'm looking forward to plot developments and learning more about the characters, but I'm watching it again because of Kyle.

Anyone notice how the laugh track would go off at things that were clearly not jokes? The only things I laughed at came out of the little blonde's mouth.

Lawson was hard to watch sometiems, like he was really trying to be some sort of Joey/Chandler mix from friends too hard. Alyssa Milano was great fun to watch in her awkward moments and Kyle Bornheimer was by far my favorite from the night. His line at the end about "There were a lot of things I did not tell you man" was killer. It is only one episode, but I felt like I learned little of the characters mostly due to feeling like we were often transitioned from one-liner to one-liner for Lawson. This show has a lot of potential if these things are ironed out.

This show was sooooo awesome! I was at the gym watching it and several people around me were watching it too and we all just kept laughing out loud because it was so outrageously funny! I am so happy that this show it on. I wish it was a little longer than half an hour, but I'll take what I can get. There needs to be more shows like this, instead of reality shows like The Hills and Fly Girls.
Romantically Challenged and GLEE are my favorites!

I have been following tweets from the cast, and was really looking forward to the premiere. I was not disappointed.

Thought the show might be similar to "Friends", but this show stands on its own and is very unique.

I have always liked Alyssa Milano, and think Kyle Bornheimer is also going to be a charmer who draws fans to the show.

Looking forward to more episodes.
