'Law & Order: SVU': Chris Meloni staying put

chris-meloni-svu.jpgContrary to a report that surfaced in February, Chris Meloni will not be leaving "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" at the end of the 12th season.

"It's lies. All lies. No," Meloni tells Us Magazine. An Australian newspaper had quoted him as saying, "I think 12 years is enough," but Meloni says that his words were taken out of context.

The 12th season will mark the end of Meloni's current contract with the show, but that doesn't mean he's ready to throw in the towel on Elliot Stabler. "When producers come back to me, you know, we can always talk," he says.

"SVU" has not yet been picked up for its 12th season, but it is expected to return. When asked if he'd stay on the show past his current contract, Meloni said, "Yeah. Why not?"

Well, good. SVU, unlike the original L&O, is very much driven by Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay. They're both so fantastic that I doubt the show could survive without either one of them.

I know I stopped watching for the time that Hargitay was on leave...

And he was barely in last night's episode and though the other characters are good I missed him. Now if they could just get Stephanie March to stay put all would be right.

The best Law and Order and one of the best dramas out there today. Thank goodness they got rid of Jay and moved it back to 10 pm.

Eh, once they got rid of the original cast from season 1 and 2, the show went downhill. Now all they care about it the "twists", "personal drama", "anger issues", "family madness", "Guest stars" and shipper wars craziness. I read something about last season's madness somewhere, they said that last season was "heavily Stabler(ed)" and the one before was "heavily Benson(ed)"!!! The hell?! The soul purpose of this show, which (was) investigating sex crimes, using a squad of FOUR detectives and A PERMANENT ADA to do that, has faded into the background to the point of nonexsistence years ago. I don't care about this show anymore. Law and Order the original has improved, along with CI. Who would have imagined, huh?
About Meloni, I love him so much, but his talent is cheapened by the stupidity of SVU's writers and producers. He can stay, or he can go, I don't care.

Oh damn! I was looking for the shake up. I liked the change motion in Law and Order: criminal intent, and Law and Order the original before. It was a breath of fresh air.

Glad that Chris Meloni is going to be leaving Law & Order: SVU.
