'Law & Order: Criminal Intent': Vincent D'Onofrio says goodbye

Vincent D'Onofrio returns to "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" one last time.D'Onofrio has been in 131 episodes of "Law & Order: Criminal
Intent," dating back to its inception in 2001.He is appearing in the two-part Season 9 premiere of the show, which aired part one on March 30 and part two April 6, so his character Detective Robert Goren can pass the reins of the Major Case Squad to Detective Zack Nichols (Jeff Goldblum).
D'Onofrio tells USA, "I do think I'm a better actor since the show ... It would be hard to explain in one sitting what it's like to play a character for so long but it's definitely an incredible exercise for an actor."
This is just one of the many cast shakeups happening to the show. Kathryn Erbe also departs with D'Onofrio, the two remaining original cast members. Julianna Nicholson has also left the show and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio has joined the cast as the new captain.
This may not be quite the final curtain for Detective Goren, though. D'Onofrio teased back in September when his departure was announced, "For all my loyal 'CI' fans, I wouldn't be surprised if Goren pops up from time to time."

He will be missed. I enjoyed the show very much and HE was the only reason I watched the show. His style was different and he made the show worth watching every single time. I'm not sure I'm feeling Jeff Goldblum just yet. But I will continue to watch to find out.
I love Vincent on Law and Order Criminal Intent. He is the only reason I watch the show. He reminds me of a modern day columbo except with more intelligence. I love his character. I like Jeff Goldblum, but he not Vincent. This will probably be the last episode I watch. With Vincent leaving, I will probably just focus on Law and Order SVU. Bye Vincent going to miss you! Loved you in full metal jacket also.

This will be the final season for CI, Vincent has carried the show for 8 years. Ratings will drop like a rock after tonight's episode

I am saddened beyond belief,all Iwant to know is if he is ok. He has looked rather ill the last few years and appears very tired and drawn.. .. We are hoping he is fine.. He will be so very missed by so many fans. God Bless and best wishes.
For me, D'Onofrio, is one of those actors whose overall work throughout the years will be examined and prove his versatility.
I can't count how many times I've seen him in movies or TV shows that made me do a double take.
Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks but this actor is talented.
I agree. Vincent was the show, and with all of the original cast members gone, I also doubt that I will watch any longer. It just won't be the same without Goren, Eames, and Ross, and I, too, fear that this will be the death knell for L&O, CI.
