Justin Bieber could've been an 'American Idol'

Justin Bieber is expected to appear in a short segment on tonight's "Idol Gives Back" special, and he's got a performance of "Baby" slated for later this season. If things had gone differently, though, Bieber might have been competing on "American Idol" this year."When I turned 16, I might have went and tried out, but [YouTube] was faster," he told MTV. "Me and my mom used to watch when I was little and we were like 'I could get on there, you know.'"
Executive producer Cécile Frot-Coutaz said that Justin was asked to participate on "Idol Gives Back" because "he's young and he's a real inspiration for [the] young generation, so it was a really good fit for him to be in that special episode."

we wouldn't know how he will fare vs Crystal because Simon and co. would've cut him during hollywood week along with Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus. Jonas and Demi Dovato won't even make it that far.
Haven't heard a lot of his stuff (just too teeny-bop for me) but I guess he couldn't be any worse than the Aaron Kelly kid or that kid who grins all the time and is a so so talent but is most likely still there because of his tween appeal.. besides not sure if JB could compete for AI, isn't he Canadian?

Michael Johns (and carly smithson for that matter) both had dual citizenship. Justin would've been in Toronto still had he not been discovered (which in case you're wondering doesn't qualify you for US citizenship).
Doubt he would have even made it to Hollywood.
