James Bond sequel suspended, future uncertain
Secret Agent 007 will have to wait for his next mission.The next James Bond installment is in limbo and delayed indefinitely, the film's producers announced Monday, April 19.
"Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on 'Bond 23' indefinitely," stated EON Productions' Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. "We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of 'Bond 23.'"
The film was previously scheduled for release in 2011/2012.
MGM, which produces the Bond films, is up for sale, and until it knows its fate, 007 must also await his.

Util MGM can get their act together and find a suitable buyer for their studio, then a lot of their projects will be up in limbo. Such a shame!
The next Bond villain ought to be the head of certain movie studio.
That is just crap.
I am wondering that if they would have used the old formula ie the gadgets and Q, that maybe it would still have been sucessful. I mean the 2 new movies were great, but something was lacking. it didn't seem like a James Bond Movie, it could have been a Bourne Identity movie instead. I think the producers should go back to a tried & true formula. After all there were 20 sucessful James Bond movies before...
I don't see why MGM cannot temporarily lease the rights to the Bond series until it's in a position to once again resume production of motion pictures. Anyway what's the role of the producers? We need another Bond Movie - I cannot believe the legal minds cannot find an answer that will permit production without breaking any contractual agreements - we need creative problem solvers.
