'Glee': Naya Rivera on Madonna, stilts, and Santana's unexpected turn
"Glee" pulls out all the stops for Tuesday's (April 20) episode, "The Power of Madonna," and Sue Sylvester's (Jane Lynch) Cheerios are no exception. The Cheerios do a routine to Madonna's "Ray of Light" while on stilts -- a routine that even blows Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) away. Zap2it caught up with Naya Rivera, whose character Santana has taken over the head cheerleader title now that Quinn is too pregnant to fit into her uniform, at the "Glee" Spring Premiere Soiree in Hollywood. She filled us in on what happened in stilts rehearsals that made her call her mom.
"I must have been six feet off the ground, with a pom-pom, doing the splits! I have it, to this day, on my phone recorded. It's one of my prouder moments," she says.
Not that you'll necessarily see that watching the show. "Somewhere in the English countryside in a stately manor home, Madonna is weeping!" Sue Sylvester shouts into her bullhorn. Not pleased with the Cheerios, Sylvester recruits Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Mercedes (Amber Riley) to add vocals to the routine.
While Sue may not have been impressed by the dancers on stilts, we certainly were!
Check out the video below to hear more, plus what Naya thinks of Santana's increased screen time and which episodes have her favorite music.

The stilt routine blew me away! I had no idea that the regular GLEE actors were on those things. Double bravo!!!
Her solo in the like a virgin scene was amazing! I think it was the first time I've heard her sing (Lea Michelle seems to have been getting a lot of the limelight before now).
Naya was fantastic!
I've also started to notice how many great one liners they give to Brittany (Heather Morris)
Last week with "Did you know that dolphins are just gay sharks?" and last night with "When I pulled a hamstring I went to a mysoginist".
I love that some of the supporting actors are starting to get a little more screen time.
With so many great young performers on the show, they all deserve the right to shine.
I actually wish they would have turned down Rachel's voice in the six way sing last night. All of the character can sing; I don't want them to focus on just one. It was great to hear Santana.
