'Glee' intel: More Puck, Mercedes, Brittany to love
"Glee" has so many fascinating characters, who needs to bother with Rachel and Finn? One fan favorite is Noah "Puck" Puckerman, played by Mark Salling. As William McKinley's resident bad boy, he made Rachel (Lea Michele) and viewers at home moony-eyed when he busted out his guitar and sang "Sweet Caroline."
So does Puck have another moment to shine when the show returns? Oh yes. "Glee" producers confirm he'll have a Rat Pack-esque number coming in the back nine episodes of the first season.
"If you haven't fallen in love with him yet, after that one -- lord," said co-creator and executive producer Brad Falchuk.
"Mark has really taken the character and humanized it in a way that has given it a lot of dimension and made it really fun to write," Falchuk continued. "Mark has a lot of focused stories in the back nine.
"He'll have plenty of moments because when you have talent like that that looks like that and can sing like that -- he has a very easy movie star charm about him and an accessibility -- you want to write towards that. Puck fans will get plenty of Puckerman."
And with all the talk about Rachel choosing from three guys, Puck included, when the show returns, we think perhaps she should share the wealth with the other "Glee" girls.
Mercedes (Amber Riley) hasn't been unlucky in love but somewhat absent from the love game altogether. There was that great episode when Mercedes thought she and Kurt (Chris Colfer) might have something going on before she learned of his real crush, but other than that, she hasn't seen much action in the heart department. We're psyched to learn that her luck will change for the better. Can you imagine what kind of emotional, powerful songs would come out of that girl then?
"Mercedes is irresistible," agreed Falchuk, "So she'll get a couple of suitors, certainly."
Also getting more action, but not necessarily of the love variety, are two of Quinn's (Dianna Agron) Cheerios gal pals -- Brittany and Santana (Heather Morris, Naya Rivera). Although they were supporting players in the first part of the season, their comedic talents didn't go unnoticed.
"They have some stories [coming]," confirmed Falchuk. "Heather and Naya get to sing in the back nine. Heather is so brilliantly funny and brings something so special that it's entertaining us to put her in there and start giving her stuff."
Co-creator Ian Brennan adds, "I think occasionally we tossed her a few lines, and they ended up being so shockingly hilarious. And then randomly being able to pair her in this twosome -- Heather's character and then Naya's character Santana -- they're kind of like this weird wonderful brilliant comedic duo that we stumbled upon. They're some of my favorite stuff to write now."
"Glee" returns, just in case you haven't heard, on Tuesday, April 13 on FOX.

Glad to hear there will be more Puck! Brittany/Santana have been comedic highlights with their one-liners. I hope their comedy holds up once expanded.

heyo! check out my glee audition and give it a star if you like it! http://www.myspace.com/gleeauditions?link=23229294 thx!
Thanks for even more tailor made GLEEk coverage, especially letting me know about Puck going "rat-pack-esque" (swoon!!) and more ficus on the Cheerio-chicks (love them!).
Now if zap2it could just do an interview with the guy who accompanies the Glee Club's rehersals I'd be one insanely happy GLEEk! ;)
Sorry...obviously I meant "focus" not "ficus"! Whoops!!
I don't know which I hate more -- the misspelled, grammatically-incorrect, brain-dead ramblings of MEOW, or this spam crap that it popping up more and more often...
Just let Amber sing cause her acting is sub par.
Give her more than two lines and it is pretty sad.
I hope THE OTHER ASIAN gets more screen time and character development He dances really good and he probably has the fewest lines on the show :D,
we dont even know his name!!
Benjamin -- "Other Asian's" character name is Mike Chang (played by Harry Shum Jr.). Did an in-depth interview with him a while back, but it was too early for him to tell me any specifics about his involvement in the back nine. Agreed that he needs more screentime and lines!
I hope that we also get to see (and hear) more of Mike Chang and Matt Rutherford. We know that those two boys can dance, but I'd like to get to know their characters as well.
All good news.
Love Heather Morris' one-liners, and she's sexy as hell.
