'Desperate Housewives' calling it quits after Season 8?
At any rate, Deadline.com reports that ABC is considering stepping back from its previous announcement of nine seasons to eight for the run of the show.
According to the article, a couple issues are affecting ABC's decision process:
- Cherry is already on a three-year deal with the network. If the show ends after Season 8, that would allow Cherry a year to do development on new projects. And the network really wants him to churn out another hit for them.
- The core divas Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria Parker and Marcia Cross apparently have deals through next season. ABC Studios has reportedly approached them about extending that through a Season 9, but the women haven't committed. Could they be considering other options?
Back in 2008, ABC announced that it had a deal in place to carry "Desperate Housewives" through Season 9, instead of Season 7 as Cherry had planned.
An ABC spokesperson declined Zap2it's request for comment.
Do you think "Desperate Housewives" should end its run with Season 8?

I think 8 seasons of DH will be enough.
This season has been very uneven although it looks promising as we enter May sweeps.
What DH needs to do is focus on its existing core characters and stop introducing new neighbours each season that no one cares about.
Please put This show out of it's Misery.
Yes! After all this time, including a 5-year jump, they are practically right back where they started. It's time to bow out gracefully.
I am likely to stop watching at the end of this season (season 6).
i love the show, but i think that it should end next season.
though now i see it isnt likley because stories cant be wrapped up etc but marc cherry said seven seasons which i think is best..
it will just fade away, something he didnt want to happen.
It's run its course. Actually the problem is they've clung to all the original cast when they should have been rotating them out and giving the new neighbors sufficient time to be interesting. Instead they tried to shoehorn in both old and new and did a disservice to both.
The show's so stale now it doesn't matter if it comes back for one more season or two or three. The ratings will continue to slide. ABC should take advantage of what is left next year to introduce a new drama which can take DH's place the following year. Let's just hope they do not put on another crap reality program like DWTS.
Is it STILL on?
as much as I love DH its not as good as it used to be. it should end at 7 seasons, next year.
This show used to be good.
