'Dancing With the Stars' Evan Lysacek excited about new double scoring system

evan-lysacek-dwts0405-320.jpgWhen you tune in to "Dancing With the Stars" Monday (April 12) night, expect to a brand new double scoring system.

For this week only, the judges will give each couple's performance two sets of scores: one for technical merit and one for the performance.

Evan Lysacek, who won last week's "DWTS" performance round with a score of 26, says on his blog that he thinks double scores are a good thing.

"I think all of us on the cast are excited about the new scoring system," writes Lysacek. "It adds a new twist to the show and it's a great opportunity to measure where we all are from a technical standpoint and a performance standpoint."

Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough could have used this scoring system last week when they got the thumbs up for their quickstep, but thumbs way down for breaking too many technical rules. The gap between performance value and technique led to the duo to receive scores as varied as Len Goodman's "6" to Bruno Tonioli's "9."

With two sets of scores from the judges, Kate will be back home full-time with her plus eight in no time.

It's becoming annoying that they way people are judged changes every week. I hated last year when all of a sudden the judges got to decide who was staying and who was gone based on the bottom 2. It was the only reason Aaron Carter survived some of his weeks.

Not to mention Nicole would have been hurt in her techical marks because she broke rules.

watch the show for entertainment value only. i love dancing. if the dancing is good, i watch it. if a couple sucks, i skip it. and since i tivo, i don't have 2 listen to the judges cause in the end, more often than not, they use their comments and scores to get the winner they want.

I like the new system. Yes, the judges do get more chances to point out/award the performances on a dancing/technical standpoint, but despite all of this, the show IS a popularity contest because the awful (and not just her so-called dancing)crappy Kate is still there.

ALL IT DOES IS GIVE DWTS MORE AIR TIME TO SELL MORE COMMERCIALS. PLEASE SPARE ME THE DRAMA, THE MELTDOWNS, THE BEHIND THE SCENES, AND ALL THOSE POINTLESS RECAP SHOWS. IT'S A DANCING SHOW, JUST DANCE!
